I live in africa and alota people here cant be bothered with cost for luxury items like this,so playing for free is a good thing for me as i cannot be thinking bout renewing subcription for my internet and PSN
I wouldn't support it either. I would go straight to Xbox cuz they have better servers, but if I had to pay for Ps3 online and they improve their server issues then I would support it. Consoles shouldn't be about playing online it should be about gameplay, but the online does make almost every game great.
I think changing any service from free to a paid model is an idiotic idea. The moment Sony does this I'm boycotting their online and switching the the Xbox and PC games for online (mostly PC) Playstation Plus is fine, butcharging for something that used to be free is taking out something the system was known for. Just like their was some backlash when Sony took out the ability to put on your own operating system.
I would pay for online service for sure. You always get what you pay for. I think one of the reasons why PSN is free is because they pretty much have nothing to make us want to pay. On Xbox you pay for online service, but it's all worth it. The second Sony announced PSN+ I was excited.
The main reasaons why I got my ps3 was for the free online and blue ray. If I had to pay I'd rather get a 360 since I think i benfits are much better for online. I got friends on both so it doesn't really borthers me much.
I wouldn't pay it.....
I mostly play single player anyway, usualy WRPGS or action adventure. HoweverI do play abit of COD and the likes but not enougth to pay for it.
I would definetely pay as long as they improved the servers. And everyebody who says they would not pay are on crack. If you have a MP game you want to play the MP. I dont buy too many MP games that i never intend to play the MP portion so i cannot imagine i am the only one.
If they included something like XBL Silver, I would. I'd just buy cards for online for like a week at a time when I feel like playing online, because I mostly play offline, though I'd still like to be able to talk to my friends and stuff like that.
No. I'd still play Playstation 3 games but I wouldn't pay for online. I don't use it enough for the subscription. That's why I don't have xbox Live Gold membership. Just not worth it. Online multiplayer should be free anyway.
If i'm already paying for the Rent the TV the Electricity the Console the Game and theinternet provider, i'd like to think that with online gaming now being a large aspect of new titles it would be free to play, or at least be able to access the whole of your content. If you take the online aspect out of most FPS then they have to stand on their single player campaigns and in some cases this is just weak! Making the online modes the most appealing part of the game.
The idea that the service would be better; less lag issues ect ect, is fine now but as modern technology evolves around us the standard internet connection are and will get better anyway, so soon enough it won't make a big difference. Dedicated servers or not...
Considering that the only alternative would be to spend a few hundred bucks for another console which also charges for online, what choice would a person have? I'd still keep my PS3 obviously. As long as the fee was just to play games online, and not to get game updates or shop for DLC and stuff in the store, I'd probably skip it.
I don't think people realize that paying for live gold is paying for the multiplayer tools like chat and such, and the access it's self. Paying money in doesn't go towards improving the servers directly, except for maybe MS only games. It's such a scam.guynamedbillyi agree that its a scam! if people keep paying for online companys will continue charging to play online! -_-
I will never never never pay anything other than the price of my internet connection to play online. Since the invention of online gaming playing online has been free (with the exception of mmo's), until Microsoft decided to start charging people.
No flippin way I will ever pay to play a console game online.

I would, primarily because it would:
a) Protect the Ps3 from Piracy and Hackers
b) Likely bring in many wanted features
c) Improve servers
d) Give Sony more money in general, which could possibly lead to many great new first-party IPs and developers.
if sony charges for online play doesnt directly mean that theyll improve the server, they could just use the money on BS contentTheFlash3D
I wouldn't pay to play online (just like I don't with my x360), I would buy it for SP games like the Disgaea series but I guess I would play more on my PC / Notebook
