Would you suggest this intercooler?

Intercooler

Looking though the limited chocies of intercoolers for the PS3, I came across this one. I can read reviews all day long, but It don't tell me squat. I would rather hear it from gamers and those who have used it.

Any useful replys will be much appericated.

No clue, but answers would be much appreciated; because I've been looking into getting an intercooler for my PS3 as well

I've actually only heard that the intercoolers damage your PS3 since all they do is blow dirt into it? I don't know if this is true but I just run my PS3s vertical in wide open spaces and have never had an issue with overheating.

I've never used an intercooler, but most of what I've heard is negative. I've heard they can damage your PS3, from players to professionals alike.

Use at your own risk.

I have had my 60 gig running 24/7 without a cooler and it has never overheated at any time. Just make sure there is plenty of space all around for fresh air to flow through the systems own cooling system. I also found that standing the system vertical also helps keep temperatures down. Mostly a cooler is a worthless gimmick that takes your money.

Those coolers won't do any good for your PS3, just put your PS3 in a wide space and you'll be fine. And I also heard that these intercoolers may hurt the PS3.

I put a couple of game cases under mine on either outside edge, so that there's a big ol' air gap under the console... works just fine and didn't cost me a thing.

I don't recommend any type of intercooler whatsoever. Like others said, it does more harm than good. Just give the system plenty of breathing room and you'll be fine.

Like what many have already stated, I wouldnt recommend it either. Intercoolers came about solely by third party peripheral developers to capitalize on the RRoD occurrence. They made money hand over fist b/c of people's paranoia. Infact using an intercooler could void your manufactures warranty. If you're worried about your system overheating on you, the best thing to do is take some preventative measures before hand.

  1. Give your system enough rooms to breathe
  2. Dont go on 10 hr gaming sessions, let the system cool down.
  3. keep the system as dust free as possible
  4. Kinda extreme but i highly recommend reapplying the thermal paste on the cpu/gpu, the one sony uses is crap.

I'm not convinced.. I had a 60gig fat PS3 and it was starting to labour (fan noise) keeping itself cool.

I looked at the options.. The only one that looked like an improvement was watercooling.. But the cost meant it was cheaper to get a slim PS3.

Unless you fancy taking your PS3 apart once a year, cleaning the dust and reapplying thermal paste I would just make sure you keep your vents clear and the unit well ventilated.

Oink!

Just buy a mini-fridge and stick that sucker in there. It will keep it icy cool and you'll never have to go far for a fresh beer:D
