nope the industry cant simple as that wii will take it out the minute it entered the door,
everyhing has been done from graphics to renewed controls,
and no one has the ideas but nintendo or sony or microsoft to come out and win ,
no way
wii 2 is already in development jus so you know,
as ps3 and 360 run a 10 year life cycle nintendo will roll out wii 2 in the next 2 yrs lol 2011 is the earliest for wii 2 and 2013 is the latest for wii 2 ,
no later than that ,, and by judging 360s new price, i think its about time nintendo goes to 99,99 i wouldnt doubt them if they did it come xmas time,
or 129.99 at the most that surely would sell alot more ,
more then analyst predict and possibly break ps2 records in 2 lol ,

That post really started to hurt my eyes.
As for the question:
I would support a new console, ain't nothing wrong with that. It would have to be something that gives me that "WOW" factor in order for me to jump on the wagon and support it. If it could do something better or something close to "PS3, Wii, or 360" Yeah, i would still get it. Also, it would depend on the games and how much they're asking for (ex: on games, system, controllers, etc..etc.)
Well, lets look at it simply... Can I afford a new console? Unless it's less then $50 right now, then no.
The market today is such a way that it will be near impossible for a company to join the market and succeed. The best time for a company to introduce a console into the market is debatable. Some say when the other consoles are ending their life-cycle, but then, those other consoles (that have reputation) will be cheap and many people won't want to fork out double or even triple for the new kid on the block.
i heard somewhere tht apple might jump into the pool as well with a new console =O
lol idk how apple would do if they make a console... they have a rep of making pretty impressive hardware...
Hell no, ideally there would only be 2 consoles.
One for hardcore gamers and one for casual gamers.
This way a developer only has to decide on one type of hardware for his type of game.
This way sales and games would be optimized.
The games would be optimized for the hardware and more budget would go to make the game better, instead of working on porting to game to other consoles.
i would with words only
a new console by EA would have big impact on the industry...think all EA games as exclusive games on EA console... this would hurt all other consoles and would help EA alot... they are still the biggest company ( with game numbers )in the industry, so it would bring a real challenge for others and rivalry would lead to really good competition for quality.
imo, right now current gen is terrible... all flash no substance... only few games are outstanding and all others are just eyecandy while there is no taste in them... "multiplatform" culture is one of the reasons...

in other words, xbox needs to GTFO and leave it to the superiors of the area.

Well hey, you said that, not me.
But it is no secret that if xbox wasn't a Micro$oft product, it would have been buried a long time ago.

I don't like EA at all. the only decent stuff they make are some driving and shooting games, and I never buy them anyway, just play the demos for a bit. I wouldn't want an EA console. I'd back a console from SEGA, capcom, namco, konami if they all combined, and maybe squareenix.

At least someone knows whats going on. Bill throwing money around in order to monopolise another market sector, thats what.

lol i dont like EA either, actually i hate them. i just want a rivalry in the industry for quality rise. if those companies would be combined yea it would be sweet but they are not big like EA as they are alone. EA is in every genre and they even bought Bioware...so yea if they enter with a console, it will change the industry alot and quality wise, ps3, 360 should have to make their own games to rival EA's mass production games.

No. Most companies can't even make games for the next gen consoles without crying about them now(and by next gen i mean PS3/X-BOX 360).
that is true only for m$... nintendo is all about 1st party games and ps is really strong in 1st party games too ( god of war, uncharted, ico, shadow of the colossues, etc. )so once again, EA's entering this competition will challenge them and rivalry will lead more quality products to be able to survive
