Would u want sony to make a blu-ray umd?
sure, it would make the games worth about between $30 to $50 but i think the games would have better graphics then it already has, better gameplay, better phyisics, and it will have longer campaign.

the problem with blu-ray (and even hd-dvd) isn't the disc. we've known how to cram more info on a disc for a long time. it's the hardware that makes the shorter wave-length laser (ie, blue or indigo) that's been the hold up.
while the technology on blu-ray discs can no doubt be ported over (and i'm just guessing about that) to other media, it would mean the PSP itself would have to be completely redesigned with a a lot of new and expensive hardware.

Not needed. The UMD is fine. Better gameplay?? Better phyisics?? no just NO. Hate the idea. The PSP doesn't need a new media storage, the UMD is fine.
What would be cool is if you could download music videos and movies directly to your PSP without having to convert anything over. Just plug up your PSP to the USB and click download...Now that is a good idea. The UMD and the Gamecards seem like they cost the same amount to make, but the UMD hold more info.
Well, Blue-Ray implementation is going to be implemented eventually. However, they already have tons more capacity than their competitor, so there is no real reason for them to. Surely the next edition PSP will have a type of Blu-Ray but they are shooting for the PSP to be a ten year system, so it'll still be six to seven more years.
I think that a hard drive would be more important. Maybe that could be a way to let developers make bigger games. Say, you buy a disc, and it requires installation. You hook it up to your Wifi and it downloads any extra files that aren't on the disc. They could also verify the discs authenticity. I think that would be a good step in reducing piracy.
Blu-ray? No, not now.
Hard Drive? Hecks yeah.
Hard Drive working in combination with UMD? Double Hecks Yeah.
UMD Burner via USB on your computer? Maybe, it'd be neat at least, and would let you free up your music space for video space or vice versa.
