Didn't Cally have some mobs of people wanting to get launch PS3s?
But I have to say, I want a 40 gig if you can play Tekken 5, Virtual Fighter 4 Evo, and at least one DDR game on it.

I don't know all I know is that they were not on the shelfs but their was a couple of 80gig like 3 or 4 other than that the 40gigs were all gone.
I was kinda suspecting that the 40 gigs would sell well. But it could also be people buying the all 40 gigs to sell on ebay this xmas. Haha I seriously hope not. sa10kun
That won't happen or atleast they won't sell for outrageous prices, that usually only occurs at launch due to shortages.

yea, but some jerks will try to make a quick buck on the shortages. Even if its not as astronomical as the launch sales. I mean people that are selling wiis now are trying to get 300 bucks for them now that the demand isn't as insane.
I bet that jackass that bought a ps3 on launch day just to smash it is kicking himself right now.
Hell yeah. I'm so happy that the PS3 is finaly selling which means that game developpers might start making more exclusives and more people will get a ps3 after that andPlaystation will bearound for a long long time.goliath98
OK. :|

You can't though...because it plays no PS2 games whatsoever.
That's just frustrating to me. I bought my 60GB because of the better backword compatibility, at least here in the USA, for $499. At the time, I thought that that was a great price. I don't have any problems playing my old games, but man. I could have saved $100, but that would have been a gamble cause those are 40GB and have that new stuff that doesn't work too well with old games. Anyway, I thought that would be useful to say.SamuriChamploo
The 40gb doesn't work at all with PS2 games, and PS1 games are probably shady at best.

[QUOTE="jackle2071"]Sony found the sweet spot! nexgen
$400 is hardly the sweet spot for casuals. Until the system hits $199-$299 the system should start selling a lot.
PS A lot of 40GB sku stock in Canada here.
If you wait till it drops to 199. You might as well buy the PS4. Just dont be so cheap.

Skarry we live in the same city . Anyways how many 40 gigs are even out there right now!?
It was only a matter of time for the Ps3 to start taking off. The $399 price will help a lot. I had no problem paying $599 myself but a lot of people do. Anyone thinking $599 is a lot should look outside the U.S. and see what gamers in other countries have to pay.
I think this time next year the PS3 will lead in total consoles sold. Most people do want a PS3. They just didn't like the price. The next year will be great too. So many great games coming.

I can't believe how much the media has attacked Sony the first year of the PS3. We sure didn't see these attacks on the 360 its first year. And now they have the dreaded RROD and nobody gives Microsoft a hard time over that. They switched to a three year warranty and that's enough? I want my console to last five years, so why not a five year warranty? But I think 2008 will belong to Sony and the PS3.
Thats great news. To my surprise atleast. I thought the 40 gig wouldnt be very popular, im happy yet shocked bout this..Sony is goin on the right track again.navigata
I can understand why you'd think the 40GB model wouldn't sell well. The media has really attacked Sony over taking out backward compatibility. But I think most people who haven't bought a PS3 yet are waiting for a price drop and don't care about playing PS2 games on the PS3. The media attacked Sony over the price being too high. So they make a new model and get attacked for taking away a feature. I guess Sony can't win.
People who buy the new 40GB PS3 will save on their power bill though too. At least I read the processor will be 65nm instead of 90nm like the older models. That means a lot less power to run and it's quieter. And less heat. I think that change alone has allowed Sony to drop the price $100.

The PS2 used the PS1's processor as a usb controller, hence hardware b/c, not software.

FYI - The removal of backward compatibility had no affect on the cost of the system. Sony has already said that is NOT why it was removed. It was removed to increase sales of PS3 games only. Just thought I'd pass that on. It's the reason the media were so upset, they removed the feature to force sales, something that could have been handeled better with the release of more (and better) games.
