Wow people opinion on PS3 a year ago was completely different from now

My opinion hasn't changed at all really. I thought it was great back then.

A year ago I was all like "the PS3 only appeals to a niche market and won't be a mainstream success, rawr."

Now I've merely had that line of thought validated.

EDIT: This post isn't meant to bash the PS3 or anything; I have one and love it.

Me 3!!! P.S. Palystation owned a year ago and it owns today and is going to own forever.

I think the PS3 had two things going against it a year ago.....

1. Price

2. Lack of quality "exclusive" titles.

Well Imo, the PS3 40 GB at $399 addressed issue #1 and games like Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword and others addressed issue #2.

I for one let my XBOX fanboyism get in the way of seeing the true potential that the PS3 offers as a console. I am now the proud owner of a 40 GB PS3 and love it! Although my favoite game right is a multiplat...CoD 4, I love playing Uncharted, HS, Ratchet and Clank and I have just downloaded GT 5 Prologue and LOVE it!!! All I can say is bring on HAZE, SOCOM Confrontation, MGS 4, LBP and KZ 2!! Oh yes and those great multiplats like GTA IV, Battlefield Bad Company and RE 5!!

The way i see it,

Wii is for families, and people that game for leisure and fun and nothing more

Xbox is for people who love repairing their consoles, and mostly the intermediate gamer

The PS3, while having games that fit into both of the before markets, is for the more serious gamer, its still fun as hell, and a family could still very easily own one, i just think that the games coming out for it, are of a higher quality, gameplay level, and difficulty than other consoles.

wow i've been a hardcore gamer since way back wen the nes was up and running even havin the old aimga and commadore64 and every console ever since with playstation leading the way all the way through till ps2 and then the xbox arrived which i thought nah no way, i do believe the ps2 was the greatest console it everything but the xbox edged it due to its realese well after wiv a lil bit more looking more solid in its graphics or was that just ninja gaiden lol.

but i remember i year ago and everything was xbox this and that even gamespot was pure basis towards 360 it was untrue and the wars wat went on about the line up for ps3 was rubbish, i think people dont realise tht the 360 game out way before the ps3, and the 360 line was horrid i swear 75% of the realeses for it were sport games if im not correct.

To me the ps3 wins hands down, 360 is comin to a close with how far the graphics can go i believe and with uncharted only pulling off a 3rd of wat the cell can do we have alot to come

i laugh at the people who were so against the ps3 and slated it for no reason even tho it came out wiv a good line up. there all eating there words now, 360 has so many problems its untrue i dont understand how people couldnt see it back then online is FREE how can tht not be good. who needed the fancy xbox live all it is is colourful backdrops lol.

my view hasnt changed just got bigger on wat the ps3 maybe able to achieve once designers get around how it works just the same as the ps1 and ps2 same thing there set up is the hardest to design on probably because they r perfectionists them selves. enough from me anyway.

gamespot has always been and will be all over the x360... i don't evenwantto talk about it.. my opinion has always been the same but i think the general opinion will change for 2009, i mean xbox will be the past... dvds? we won't use that anymore people... haahadosochentaydos

Of course peole still use DVDs, BR&HD DVD disc sales combined are around 3-5% of total movie disc sales.

I fail to see why so many other PS3 owners think PS3 performance/graphics will magically improve drastically with time. RSX is not a very powerful GPU.

A year ago my opinion was that the PS3 was a console with great potential, but there really wasn't much at the time to justify spending a crapload of money on it.

This year I went out and picked one up knowing it will be well worth having around because being a gamer, I would miss out on great games if I continued to ignore the PS3.

I would also like to point out that those of you without a 360 are going to be and have been missing out on some great games as well.

Remeber the first year 360 was out and how everyone hated it because of the LACK OF GAMES and such, but the next year they loved it cause of oblivion and Gears and such... what came out the same year oh yea the Ps3 and it was Sony's turn to go through the first year game drought and on top of it they now had a rival console just start getting their games out.

I mean every console has had a first year problem... well except Nintendo. I for one looked at the PS3 since day one... granted I was not going to get one until June 12 but due to the 60 gig being dropped I got mine last Aug. and I have not doubt myself since. I have loved it since day one and I am glad I did not get another console. One because of budget and two because I do not care too much for the games they have coming out for them...

Good call. Good games take time to make, I can't fathom how that isn't common sense.

The PS3 was always the console i wanted. I feel exactly the same way i did a year ago. When i finally had the money to get it, it was a great feeling. I really love this machine! :DFat_Boy_PT

i love my ps3 also bought it 1 month ago and now i am the proud owner of 5 games and the dual shock 3 controller

cod4 and gt-5 is my favorite games so far
