Ok, so i have just got my PS3, i want to play online but when i go to "sign up for playstation network" it says my ethernat cable isnt plugged in. I have an ethernet cable but my router is down stairs, a long way from the PS3, so is there anyway to play online wirelessly?
If you got the 60gb then it does come with wifi. But I believe you have to set it up in the system menu. I dont know the details myself as I do use an ethernet cable but I'm 100% sure you can play online wirelessly as long as you got the 60 gig. Check the ps3 manual for more details.
Ahh ... they really should ask you first time you start PS3 if network connection is Wireless or Wired instead of assuming wired ...
  Personally it took me about 30 secs to figure out i had to set it to wireless in settings ...     it did take me nearly 2 hours to work out that PS3 dosnt except SHARED WEP key ... u need it OPEN WEP key ...
pff putting up a wireless network is very easy with the ps3 just the same as the psp .. its like 4 button presses and the option is in a logical place..

You can buy a wifi adaptor for the Ps3 for about $20.00 if you have the 20 gig version.

Linksys has wireless adaptors that work with both ps3 and xbox 360. You can always get them on Ebay for 20-30 depending which model you want.
