I just had to vent. I own a 360 and a PS3 - so when a game comes out for both systems I usually get it for the PS3. That way I feel justified in my console purchase.

Well I was just reading the article from today here on GS which announced the official pricing for Asassins Creed (in Australia) and while we have all gotten used to the PC version being $10 less...

Why is the 360 version $10 less than the PS3!!! That just really irritates me. So there are 3 price points with the PS3 being the most expensive. That's just rediculous. Hopefully they won't do that here in the U.S. but if they did it in Australia - I don't see why it would be different here.

I'll probably still get the game for the PS3 instead of the 360 but I hope this is not a sign of a new trend of PS3 games costing more than the 360 games.

GRRRrrrrr.

Well in the US, Assasins Creed is priced at $59.99 for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions..so I don't understand your gripe with Ubisoft. I like Ubi allot and I think they've priced there games in an reasonable way on all systems.

Well that's good to hear - if the price really does remain the same here in the U.S. - Still sucks that they're doing that anywhere at all. Especially in Australia which is one of the few places worldwide that the PS3 has a larger installed base than the 360. It just doesn't make sense to screw them like that. I do like Ubi Soft myself - I just think this is a really poor practice as 360 and PS3 games have always been the same price and should remain that way IMO. I would hate to see a price difference trend between the 2 consoles - ANYWHERE.

:)

Unfortunately not in this case. Ubi has a studio in Australia and it doesn't cost any more to ship a 360 game than it does a PS3 game. It has nothing to do with shipping unfortunately.

What exactly do you mean by that last sentence??

To me, the advantage of having 2 consoles would be such a possibilty as the game being cheaper on the other console. I mean if the game is cheaper on the 360, its a no brainer, I'm getting it for the 360.

FWIW, I love PC gaming, PS3 gaming, and xbox 360 the same, but honestly I still have a soft spot for PC gaming since it is the platform I started on.

Well getting a game cheaper on one or the other of the consoles wasn't my reasoning at all. Here's the thing if the PS3 price was the normal price and the 360 price was $10 cheaper - I wouldn't like it but no big deal. But to actually have the 360 at the normal price and then add $10 to the PS3 version just doesn't seem right to me.

What I meant by my last sentance was that while I am very happy to own both consoles - as of now there's not many games for the PS3 and the ones I do have are on both platforms. As I am not a racing game or sports fan - the only exclusive game as of now that I have is RFOM. So my point was that when games are out for both platforms for the same price I will usually get the PS3 version - just because my library of 360 games is HUGE and I only have a couple of PS3 games. So it is just a little lop sided right now and I want to feed my PS3 more!!!

But when they raise the price of the PS3 game by $10 - as you said it's a no brainer to go with the cheaper one which is the 360 version. But that doesn't add to my PS3 collection of games. If all games went this route (and I pray to God that's not going to be the case) - then it would not bode well at all for the PS3 if their games were always more expensive than the 360. And trust me I want to see the PS3 succeed as bad as any other PS3 owner.

I just think that in every situation that the same game that is released cross platform on the 360 and the PS3 should be priced the same for both consoles.

i feel that the extra 10 bucks is due to the higher cost of blu ray disk? sounds logical to me =x

Well you know that is a GREAT and VALID point that I hadn't thought about! Especially if the game comes on 2 discs for the 360 (and I'm not saying it is) then the extra $10 would definitely be worth it to have the game on one BluRay disc instead. Again - very good point. :)
