WTH Sony! where are your full HD movie downloads from PSN? they own motion picture companies, and all the give us are trailers. if 360 can do it why cant PS3. i watched stardust in HD last night from my 360 and it was a great experience. the download started, 5 min later it had downloaded enough to start the movie, and i watched it while it finished. it never stopped the play back once. and it was only $5

Sony needs to put some actual thought into this system or ill be using this ps3 for a blu-ray player period.

They already said they are working on a service like this. It was announced at launch.

Give them time to make it right. Perhaps it will come with that Playstation Store revamp in april.

OK?!?! You act like that is needed for this service, yet I can DL a HD movie with only 5 gigs empty on my 360 hard drive and it will be playing in under 10 minutes on a standard DSL connection.

I hope Sony does it better then the 360. I was very disappointed with with 360's movie service it was a complete ripoff. I downloaded Pans Labyrinth for $5 after it was finished downloading it said I had 2 weeks before the movie expires. I was impressed $5 for a 2 week rental. As soon as you start playing it however a 24hr countdown begins. So as soon as you start watching it you have 24hrs before it expires and you have re purchase it. $5 for essentially a 1 night rental complete ripoff. That was the first and only time I rented a movie off my 360 netflicks is so much cheaper. I hope PS3 movie system allows more then 24hrs to watch a movie or else I'm not interested.

My Professor was explaining to me that eventually all twisted pair cables will be replaced with fiber, which offers unlimited bandwidth....

I'm telling you dude, it will happen. Many corporations are switching to fiber. Right now it's really hard for some companies because the cost is very excessive.

Eventually Sony will be able to offer on-demand video....

PSN store is free and fantastic.

I love SONY

Huh?

I don't get what your point is. Maybe you could be a little more elaborate? I was simply commenting on you seeming to think you need some crazy hard-drive space with fiber-optics running to it for a digital movie rental service to work, when this obviously isn't the case. All I know is I can rent a HD movie on XBL for the same price of a new release DVD at Blockbuster and I'll be watching it in half the time it would take me to drive to Blockbuster.

The bitrate on those "HD" downloads are so low(even lower than DVD), I'm not even sure they can be considered HD. Add that on top of the fact that you're paying $5 for a 24-hour download and it is one of the biggest rip-offs known to man. Especially when there are deals like NETFLIX out there.

This goes for Apple too, not just Microsoft. Sony as well if they come out with a crap service like this.

I personally prefer to own a physical copy of a movie, so i'm not to bothered about a movie download service, though it may be cool for renting

I don't see anything worth while with DD because we have had PPV for several years already and I never use the service, instead if I want a movie I will purchase a hardcopy that I can watch when I choose to and not be limited. For a while there was a service that you could buy a DVD for a very very inexpensive price but after a small number of viewings or time limit the disc was blank and it didn't go over very well.

Well the Store is rumoured to be getting a complete overhaul soon, and the movie downloads might have something to do with that.

If they said they're gonna do it, you can bet they're working on it.

PS Offtopic- Stardust is a good movie.

I'd rather have Sony work on something else, I could care less renting movies from teh PSN. Sony should put their efforti n more content for Home or add fund for SCEA so The Agency gets developped faster or with more content. But god, please, not a movie renting service.

It took ms 1 year after the 360 release to have movies/tv shows on marketplace - sony is weak.

it's just a movie service dude, get netflix or something. If it's really that much of a deciding factor as to why you bought a PS3, then why'd you buy it in the first place?
