I just got back home, clicked on the T.V and saw Xplay reviewing Lair (not scoring, just reviewed)......

They basically said, "Lair is the first game to showcase the power of the PS3" and surpisingly they had nothing but good things to say about Lair....they showed lots of gameplay...it looked sweet, im definetly getting this game.

Also, a developer from factor 5 was there explaining the content and the objective to the game.....don't remember what he was saying since I was busy watching Lair...

I really like X Play. They don't appear to be baised or anything, they tell you what its right or wrong iwht the game.  I also like the fact they remained good even though Their original network, TechTV, fell of the face of the planet.  :P

I am sure it is a great game but they should have tried to make it multiplayer. It's only 10 - 12 hours long. Not worth the $60.00 imo

Hmm, 10-12 hours long? No online?  Then Lair = Amazing rental.

Hmm, so XPlay is worth listening to now? Let me guess, if the review is less than sterling, then they will be TOTALLY biased again.

what?  All I said was that they had not one bad thing to say about Lair, they usually point out all the flaws right?

Not sure. But how did Oblivion and God of War(s) do without on-line? Sometimes adventure games are better in single player. I wouldn't call Lair a FPS. So, stop acting like it is.

I layed off the X-Play cause those immature "fart jokes" got old with me. Now I only really watch it if I find out there's a game I'm intrested in, featured on it.

I don't see how these games got into this. Did someone say something to offend you? Oblivion is at least 100 hours and never played God of War nor am I interested in those kind of games.

Gow and GoW2 are less than 10 hours games and get high scores. Multiplayer is needed for weak games that have lame stories and that most of the times are less than 7 hour long in SP (not including in this analogy MMO and RPGs since those dont enter there)

Multiplayer is good for replay value. It's better to have a game that can e played for many years over one that will last 2 - 3 days. Everyone have different opinions regarding online. Some people like it and others don't. You are obviously not a fan.

If you think that short games cant have replayability you certainly havent touched a console ever.

Depends on the game. For shooters, yes. For a game like Lair, hard to say. Guess we'll have to play it first and see if its concept could be applied to a multiplayer format.

Multiplayer is good if it fits the game type. Just as God of War action adventure or NG. Sometimes single player works better. But for shooters like Gears, Resistence of even Warhawk, on-line is where it's at.

GOW aand GOW2 were amazing rentals. Good times. Can't wait for the third edition. If the replay value of a game is to play it again on a harder setting, I rent. I buy great FPS that are popular online, great RPG's that are 40+ hours long, great sports games, great racing games with solid online play AND splitscreen. Thoses are worth 60$+ imo. But then again, this is one of the rare times I appreciate filthy rich people who buy just about anything out there, that way I get myself some AmAzInG rentals.

True. I think the best game with the most replay value in recent history has been Resident Evil 4. It's soooo story driven that it best as single player. But the story is what helps that games single player.

Let me clarify this for you since you want to continue this. It was playable online without the need for lan. I have no time to explain this so  google xbconnect or xlink kai it will explain everything to you. Yes you may have them but you obviously don't know much about it. I played it online since 2002. Here is a link

mmh, why would people do this thats a hassle to do. anyways. back to my point. anyways..

Oh, Tech TV how I miss you! I think the comic accurately represents my feelings on XPLAY. The network's gone to crap. Oh and i think it's time for some new writers. Adam Sessler's'Morgan Webb's praise mean nothing to me.

That's just stupid. 10-12 hours is actually really long for a linear epic action game. Unless you wait for everything that's perfectly reasonable for a great game.

It seems like to some people in this thread any game made before 1999-2000 is not worth the money because it didn't have online play.

Electric playground was a different show than Xplay. Before xplay, iirc, adam sessler was on a show called "Gamespot TV" with some chick that had a mouth that was all crooked like drew barrymore. That was before it was G4 or TechTV I forgot the network's name back then. The good ole days of Screensavers being the primary show.

Hmm, so XPlay is worth listening to now? Let me guess, if the review is less than sterling, then they will be TOTALLY biased again.

no just the way they handle things take a look at when they reviewed Resistance they had great things to say thats all fine and dandy then after they were done with that they began to bash the PS3 again then Motorstorm came and they gave a fair review still saying nothing special about the PS3 personally i never rlly liked them at times they were okay but other times they were just plain garbage.

I have no real respect for their opinion. But, even they aren't blind to the true matter of things. If you want some graphical horsepower? Lair is where you're ass better go.

Lair is a 10-12 hour game. So what? I've seen plenty of amazing games that are around that length. Hell, I just played through God of War 2 today in 5 1/2 hours. (Speed runs FTW!) The first time I played through it it took me 12 hours.. and its an amazing game that I felt the need to go back and replay. Lair has a lot of replay value. They have a medal system, online leaderboards, and a good length single player campaign with a lot to do in the game I'm sure of it. That means you can go back and play through the game trying to unlock achievements (It has trophies for Home), earn higher ranked medals, and see if you can rank up to the best players in the world via online leader boards. What's wrong with that?

Gow and GoW2 are less than 10 hours games and get high scores. Multiplayer is needed for weak games that have lame stories and that most of the times are less than 7 hour long in SP (not including in this analogy MMO and RPGs since those dont enter there)kenshinhimura16

GoW games arent less than 10 hour long games, unless on easy mode of course

[QUOTE="Goku004"]

Also, a developer from factor 5 was there explaining the content and the objective to the game.....don't remember what he was saying since I was busy watching Lair...

skbmassive

I am sure it is a great game but they should have tried to make it multiplayer. It's only 10 - 12 hours long. Not worth the $60.00 imo

You know what other game was in the 10-12 hour range?  The first God of War.

lol God of War 2 took me like 19 hours.  I think I might have left it on overnight, though.  I finished it today.  What an amazing game!  The first one took me 12, like most other people.

With all the space that blu-ray has and LAIR is only 10-12 hours? PAAALEEEEASE......I WAS excited for this game but I may pass. Back in the day a game like that would be fine.......but Id prefer at least 20 hour at the least nw days:( Oh well, guess Ill have to buy something else.

Just curious but beides Kojima and MGS4.....When the the hell are other devs going to seriously take advantage of blu-ray? I mean all this talk of the Cell being awesome and blu-ray disc space and on and on.....Id like to see devs start putting games were there mouths are. If I want a 10 hour game for $60.00 that has hardly any single player to it...I will play my 360, as it only has a few great games that are over that mark.....but at least it has them.

Hopefully LAIR wil be good, I just want to see a game that really pushes the PS3 and blu-ray.....besides MGS4.

[QUOTE="JumpingMirrior"]I really like X Play. They don't appear to be baised or anything, they tell you what its right or wrong iwht the game.  I also like the fact they remained good even though Their original network, TechTV, fell of the face of the planet.  :Pdangerflash
they are preety biased against sony, i hear morgan say negative things about the ps3 and psp all the  time

yea like that one time when she threw the PS3 in the trash during their christmas special.  shes going to regret it by the end of this year.

Multiplayer is good for replay value. It's better to have a game that can e played for many years over one that will last 2 - 3 days. Everyone have different opinions regarding online. Some people like it and others don't. You are obviously not a fan.

did halo 1 had online when it was released on the xbox? no. was it an amazing game with replay value, yes. what you are saying is flawed.

Can you just let it rest? Always bringing up other games in every thread...it is rediculous. Guess what though? Halo 1 was playable online using system link. I bet you didn't know that

theres a difference between system link and the interenet, you know, where we are talking right now. lol. system link is a LAN, in case if you dont know about networking. dont say no, cause i have an xbox, halo 1 and halo 2.

Let me clarify this for you since you want to continue this. It was playable online without the need for lan. I have no time to explain this so google xbconnect or xlink kai it will explain everything to you. Yes you may have them but you obviously don't know much about it. I played it online since 2002. Here is a link

mmh, why would people do this thats a hassle to do. anyways. back to my point. anyways..

Pwned!!! You have no point!!!
