It is because they finding ways to make the Ps3 with cheaper parts. Therfore they can now focus more on the luxuries of the system like harddrive space. I like the idea because it brings variety. I will like to see the day when they have different colors and sizes too. It is nothing worse then everyone having the same thing. I still think the 60g version is the best so far though.

because sony wants to succeed in a capitalistic market, that's pretty much the only reason.

Consider the bigger HDs an incentive for new buyers, not for people who have one to go get another one.

what, they are oming out with a new sku with a bigger drive, if so, that's dumb, they can just encourage people that they can purchase a new bigger harddrive by putting out a 120 or better yet, 160gb harddrive aout on the market for PS3, at a cheap price, it probably wont be that much, maybe like 70-100$

Most people probably don't want to be bothered to change their HDD.

but are they puting a new SKU out there with a bigger drive? And people that would want a bigger harddrive would be willing to change it, its as easy as changing the 360 harddrive but u have to unscrew a screw and before that, take off a plastic thing protcting the HDD.

Well look at it this way, what if that person is technologically impaired. Or if the owner is like 12? I'm just going by that, some wouldn't know what to do, even though to us, it's simple.

ok, that's a good point u made, just saying, if people do buy that harddrive, they would PROBABY know how or just read the instructions, but then again, it probably isnt a good idea, plus people can still upgrade their harddrie so everyone wins, i just dont see a good reason to put another SKU with a bigger harddrive, but are they? please answer, I dontthink they are.

It's all speculation right now, a bigger HDD SKU is not confirmed.

Not everyone is smart enough to upgrade the hard drive. :)

And beside, they want to bundle the DS3 in.

the average consumer (NOBODY ON THIS WEBSITE) does not know how to unpgrade a hardrive and wouldnt think of it.

plus, that way you can load more crap onto your ps3, its just another numebr that is bigger than 360 that sony can tout. my computer has 120gig i havnt used it up even close yet

I still think the 60g version is the best so far though.

Understatement of the year! :P All the other versions are good, but when I think of PS3, I think 60 gig.

I meant actual hardware, sorry. PS3 to me means games also in that sense.

Until they make a PS3 with a bigger hard-drive, as well as BC better than my 60 gig, then it is the best one. As for the topic...the first posters hit it in the nail and buried it.

I want to know how exactly we wouldn't be an average consumer of an expensive game console?? If you think about it, someone getting a PS3 most likely has technological experience unless it is a little kid. I think people on this site actually are a fairly accurate representation of the average PS3 buyer.

Was you there when someone started crying about buying a 40 gig PS3 without knowing it didn't have BC?

I'd say that guy was more of an average consumer than us here. We will say old if it's a week old and all of us know that the 40 gig has no BC. lol. Speaking of which, if anyone has seen a good portion of my posts, then I must wonder why I haven't recieved any TOS violations. lol.
