Thank you Sega and thanks to all that supported Yakuza 3 for making this possible. Since Yakuza 3 had a good reception in the west Sega has given the okay to localize Yakuza 4 for a Spring 2011 release. This is great news to all Yakuza fans (like me) and hopefully we will get Yakuza Kenzan too.

^ a water crazed Labrador. Like Marley in the movie Marley & Me.

Yakuza 3 was awesome. Have you tried the demo? If not you should, it's got a pretty cool beat 'em up combat system.

Yakuza 1 & 2 were amongst my favorite PS2 games. They should be given the Bluray Collection treatment.

The Demo makes the game look stupid like how the Infamous demo did.

I remember reading the fourth one had better graphics and in this one you're able to play as four different characters all with different styles of gameplay than the other.

You got a point there. Hopefully this means they see a chance for profits by bringing Yakuza Kenzan too.

It was the same thing with Shenmue.. After II had low sales (since they spent 70 million on making the game) they just put an end to it right there. If you ask me, they should've put Shenmue II on Dreamcast and Xbox around the time. I am hearing rumor they might give it a comeback (since Yakuza is working out) and they might make it PS3 exclusive. Who knows.

Good for fans of the series. I thought the Yakuza 3 demo was terribly boring, but I want to try the older games first before completely dismissing the series. Hopefully they do English voiceovers for this game in case I like it :P

I don't see any reason why they couldn't bring it back. I may be wrong, but I remember hearing the reason they left the English voices off Yakuza 3 was to make it more 'authentic', but there's plenty of space on the Blu-ray for both English and Japanese for those that prefer that 'authentic' language and people like me who prefer to understand the dialogue.

How would that be corny? Enlighten me. Also, I read plenty. When I play my games I like to understand what the characters are saying instead of missing half of the scenes because I'm too busy reading every word they say. If I wanted to listen to gibberish and read subs all the time I'd watch more anime.

Hearing a Yakuza speaking English would be corny ever watch the original Godzilla? Also people can't read fast enough to continue watching the cut scene? How close are you setting next to the TV? I guess I just have a proficient ability or watching foreign films just helped me obtain the ability.

I agree completely. I understand that some people want to be able understand what is being said without having to read subtitles, but to me it just sounds so much more genuine with the Japanese voice overs. Seeing a bunch of Yakuza speaking English just takes away from the game's authentic feel. I watch a lot of old kung fu movies though so I am used to it as well. I couldn't imagine watching something like The 36th Chamber of Shaolin with English voice overs.

No I have not seen it but I've played enough Japanese inspired games and seen enough Japanese inspired movies and TV all in English and its not corny in the slightest bit. And its not a matter of not being to read fast enough or sitting too close to a TV. You just said it. "to continue watching the cut scene", meaning stopping watching what's happening (no matter how long it is) to spend the time to read. Reading subtitles detracts from the viewing, no matter how fast you read or how used to watching foreign films you are.

That's why I say include both. For guys like you and Fightingfan who like the authentic feel of the Japanese voices and for guys like me who just prefer to understand what's being said without having to read subs.

ehh, I get where you're coming from English Dub would be nice for the people who need it. I just don't, I find it fairly simple to view the whole screen at once. Also, maybe "corny" is lack of a better word but would you watch the God Father if it was entirely English no Italian what so ever?

I agree. There's no reason not to. I am sure they could fit both on blu-ray. My brother is like you and just wants to understand what is being said. They should make it to where everyone can enjoy the experience of playing a Yakuza game.

Never seen it :P I have no problem when a different language is used in certain parts, I just don't like the whole thing to be in another language. Like how Assassin's Creed II had a bit of Italian, but was still mostly in English. I was fine with that.

[QUOTE="Fightingfan"]Hearing a Yakuza speaking English would be corny ever watch the original Godzilla? Also people can't read fast enough to continue watching the cut scene? How close are you setting next to the TV? I guess I just have a proficient ability or watching foreign films just helped me obtain the ability.cmpepper23

I was thinking about it staying the way it is to.

I wasn't impressed at all by Yakuza 3 demo to be honest. But that's good news for all the fans of the series. I know there are a lot.

The Demo makes the game look stupid like how the Infamous demo did.

I'm going to take your word for it and I'll pick up Yakuza 3. The demo really turned me off as well. I felt at times in the demo, I was playing a PS2 game. Not only were the graphics poor, but the gameplay felt extremely dated. Is the full game THAT much better? Worth buying you say? Is the game in Japanese voice dub?

This was some very exciting news for me. Sure, I'd like to see it a little sooner than next spring, but better late than never. I've put nearly 30 hours into Yakuza 3 and still have a great time with it (story is complete, doing the premium adventure mode for sidequests before doing a "very hard" run). About the English vs Japanese dubs...the English isn't coming back. It seems like Yakuza 3 must've sold decently well to be announced this quickly, but the series probably doesn't sell enough to justify re-doing all the extra voicework in English. Well, I doubt it'll pick up a significant number of customers to make it worth their while. That said, the first Yakuza is in English. While some of the voices are quite terrible (minor characters, really), English-speaking Kazuma > Japanese-speaking Kazuma, easily. Part of the language differences (just in the way things are spoken) makes the Japanese one sound very weak or odd at times...the guy who did the English dub nailed pretty much every line. Honestly, if there was a choice between the language tracks, I'd turn on the English ones.

Out of the 3 Yakuza games...the 3rd one sucked to me. However, being a fan of the series, I will def pick up the new one...especially after playing the demo when it dropped.

Just buy it used from gamestop and see if you enjoy it within 7 days.
