I have an SDTV. Installing YDL for it is going to be tedious. But what I was wondering, was if I install YDL for an SDTV, and I plug my PS3 into an HDTV, will it still work? Is there a switch option I can use? Or will I have to install it again?

Yes your HDTV signal will still be sent out for all you’re gaming. YDL is running on a different engine then what controlling your games. YDL is completely encapsulated from the Sony based engine; they made sure of that as it would give hackers an easy way of changing the Sony OS and allowing it to running homebrew and all that. So a long story made short is they can’t see each other at the same time, and YDL has no writable abilities to the Sony configuration, thus HD still works.

So basically, installing it for an SDTV won't require me having to re-install it if I switch to an HDTV...correct?

I had the same problem. I found a quick way to switch it when you boot to linux, wait for the; KBOOT:

when it gets to that ponit it stays for a while and I believe your screen goes black correct? well when it reaches to the kboot:

type;

default=ydl480i

I believe that command is sdtv. I to switch to hdtv it would be;

default=ydl1080i

or something like that.

basically type; default=______ =, and after the = type the video cable your using for your tv. just search for it. i type; switching sdtv to hdtv in ps3 yellow dog or something you'll find it.
