Hey Guys, need some help, I think my PS3 is Broken!

Yesterday while playing MW2, my PS3 turned off by itself. Then when I tryed turning it back on it flashed a yellow light then started blinking red and it wont start and on top of that I cant get the game out.

So what are my options besides calling Sony?

Thanks.

Repair it yourself.. pay someone to repair it... even if you do repair it a Yellow Light will happen again, its only a matter of time... Sending it in to Sony is the only way to get a proper PS3 back.. or buy a new one.

Yeah I had the exact same problem like a week ago.
You're only option, really, is to send it to Sony, cos if you fix it yourself then you void your warranty.

If you're in warranty Sony will fix it, and give you another instead, for free.
If you aren't they'll fix it, and give you another, for about £150.

Is your disc stuck? If it is, get it out by pressing the main power switch at the back and hold the eject button at the same time :)
Good luck!

I'd send it to sony, you might have to pay $100 or more but at least you'll get it fixed. As for backing up any data you may have to consult sony on that one. In which case you should have been backing that up at least once every few months.

To summarize:

The eject button trick didnt work. Sony fix costs $180 (150+30shipping), your data will NOT be saved,then you only get a 90 day warranty on the refurb. There is a possible diy fix - see youtube for YLOD fixes, but its short lived at best.

Same thing happened to my friend.. he was playing MW2 online and it happened. He has a 80GB BC version, but had extrended warranty on it so got it fixed through where he bought it. So yeah you don't really have many options.

DMOB336 = Jan 07 = 60GB = Mar 10

Screw them all! $150 to fix it and $20 shipping, even then your not guaranteed it will work! You lose whatever you got saved, but they will replace it with the new slim model with 120GB!? He said itdoesn'tplay PS2 games.What The Hell?!!It plays PS1 games and PS3 games but not PS2 games. (Well forget playing the huge collection of PS2 games that I have and still enjoy playing (Streets 2)) This is Retarded! I'm tearing that **bleep** open myself and fixing it, I did it to the PS2. There's a step by step on you tube and I might need a heat gun. Either it's **bleep**ed or I fix it, so go screw yourself. your not getting anymore for it. I already paid $600 for the damn thing when it first came out.

Been there, my friend. This may help you get the PS3 back on temporarily and eject the disc-

i opened mine up and took the disc out myself. warranty was over anyway. i did take out the hard drive and i was wondering if, by putting it into a new ps3, will i have all my data?
