If it's the fat one I don't think getting repaired by sony, they do have a program where you can exchange the fat for a slim for $119 and that is probably worth it. If it's out of warranty you could try fixing it yourself. I've also seen computer repair shops offer to fix it for around $30-40, you might look into that.

mine was the fat one 80gb and it was out of warranty I paid 150 and they sent me a refurb one. I didn't have the best experience because the bluray drive stopped working on the replacement .... but overall the experience was easy and Sony got it right.

nope .. it was weird the first replacement they sent me stopped reading any bluray stuff .. but older ps2 games worked fine then i sent that back and they sent me the same unit back.. and it read everything fine for about a week so I sent it back in... and then they sent me the final one which I have since the first of January. so far so good. I have always been supportive of Sony and I just may have had bad luck. but they were really good about getting the box to me and getting a replacement unit to me fast.

First of all, lol.

Second, Sony won't do anything unless your warranty is still in effect. If it is, they'll give you a new or repair yours. For sure.

I thought they would do something even though your warranty is done. you'd just have to pay 150 dollars

I don't get what I did wrong, I did everything in the video. Maybel I'll try it again tomorrow and turn the heat gun up higher. It maxes at 550c so I turned it like a quarter back, maybe less. I also have a power supply on the way, if that doesn't work...I guess I'm just gonna have to lose all my saves and everything I had.

Also how many seconds did you hold the heat gun to it? I held it for 15 seconds.
