My PS3 still works but I have to attempt multiple times to get it on. I press the power button, the green light comes on but then suddenly the yellow light flashes and then repeatedly flashes red. I have to press the on button to make it stay red and press again to turn it on. This takes a few tries. Is there a solution, or do I need to get it into Sony?

you mean it still actually operates as in plays games etc, but also displays a yellow light? never heard of this, try google, but you will probably have to send it into sony or buy a new one. it wont fix itself.

I would suggest to backup your saves NOW.

Next, I would call sony and see to get another one if it's on warranty

If it's no more on warranty, call sony if you want the same model, else, go to the store and pickup a new one.

I wouldn't take chance to lose some playtime due to a malfunctionning console.

I had this problem 2 weeks ago. You could actually fix it yourself!!! Go to YouTube or these video links:

It'll save you just about $190 from SONY to get it repaired.
