Does anybody know whether whether it is possible to move a ps3 hd to another ps3 to backup the saved game data?

Will one ps3 recognise another ps3 hd with all the data intact?

Mine just died while playing resistance 2, I feel like throwing the system off something very high or running it over repeatedly with my car.

well if you back your files up to a USB stick or External Hard drive and restore it onto a different system, yes it will work but taking a hard drive out and putting it to another PS3 system, will not work. I've tried it when my 60GB got the YLoD, i thought if i took it out and when sony sends my system back. I'd stick it in and have everything the same but it Prompts you to reformat. So looks you'll have to lose everything unless you find a way to connect your PS3 hard drive to your PC and back the files up that way. (Which i'm not sure how to do)

BTW, the new recovery menu fixes the YLOD so fanboys can stop having a riot.

What recovery menu?

The system does not switch on! Well it does... for less than a second with nothing appearing on screen.

So I cannot use the backup utility or any recovery system AFAIK

Putting a different HDD in any PS3 will prompt formatting.
