At this point, I'm inclined to call Killzone 2 underrated, given how many people have jumped on the hate-bandwagon. It's not a perfect game, but the amount of bashing it receives is ridiculous.Maybe if it wasn't so overrated and the controls / graphics weren't so awkward.

It's not a perfect game, but the amount of bashing it receives is ridiculous. I agree. I was at Bestbuy one day and they were having a week sale for the game. For 40 bucks, I could take it home, play it, and maybe have incentive to make fun of it. It actually turned out to be... good! The online is surprisingly addictive, and the single player mode (while it lasted) was particularly exhilarating. Sure, it's no different than other FPS games on the market, it bleeds unoriginality, the lack of color can go drown itself, and the story is laughable, but underneath is a solid experience that's only drawing criticism for being over-hyped. It's on the same level as Uncharted 1 for me in terms of fun I had. Both games didn't bring anything new to the table, but they both provided solid experiences which represented their respective genres/gameplay. The only difference is that Killzone 2 was slobbered on and licked thoroughly by the media and advertisement, while Uncharted 1 was cooler to love because it was less popular in the eyes of the public.Maybe if it wasn't so overrated and the controls / graphics weren't so awkward.

I take it you were one of the few who didn't give in to hype?

lol, I had the previous Killzone game on the PS2 and it left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I knew from the beginning that I wasn't going to be getting this game until the price dropped at the least. Futuristic FPS with absolutely nothing particularly new about it = nothing to get excited about. It's a shame that this game bore such tremendous pressure to be that 'killer-app' everyone was waiting four years for. It didn't fail to deliver what it had promised - I just think people had their expectations way too high. If it was any other game, then it would have left a better after-taste. I almost feel sorry for it now... almost.Game of the Year: Uncharted 2
Best graphics (technical): Uncharted 2
Best graphics (artistic): Braid
Best acting: Ghostbusters
Best soundtrack: Braid
Best sports: MLB09 the Show
Best platformer: Braid
Best shooter: Obviously Uncharted 2
Best story: I honestly can't decide...InFamous+Uncharted 2
