Persona 3 is personally a game I adore, having owned both the original and FES versions. Now of course the third version of the game came out, and I am surprised we only have one thread, so just want ask how do you guys like the game?

I got the game yesterday and have not played much, but what do you guys think of it?

Well, its my first time playing a Persona game, so I can't compare it to the PS2 versions. But I'm totally digging it. I am bummed about the 2D part of it- I think it was senseless to take it out. They could've just kept the square button for quick travelling if you want to get around faster. I just wish I had more free time to socialize in the game- I can't seem to make it to Kendo practice very often! I've put about 6 hours into the game thus far.

The only thing that makes P3P better than FES is the improved battle system.

Everything else - story, graphics, FES is better.

But still, if I would make a recommendation, I'd recommend P3P, simply because gameplay always comes first.

I like it.

I bought the game asap!

Can't say that the graphics are ok for me but in the rest it's really good!

I'm liking the style of travelling better than FES, actually. Speeds things up a lot, and travelling was always tedious. Of course the graphics on the PS2 were better, though. The PS2 is the more powerful system.

I bought it from PNS, but did I need to play the first Persona on PSP before this one?

The main story is fully voiced, but the social links and NPCs in the town don't have voice-overs.

Anyways, it feels great going through Persona 3 again. I like using the cursor, since navigating is quicker, and I also like that you don't have to talk to your party members one by one to change equipment. I don't think I can play the PS2 version now.

I like it. It's very close to the original (if you choose male) which I dig. Glad that the voice acting is all there, too. And the cursor thing doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I guess it's cause I've already seen the environments on the PS2, and it makes getting around pretty quick.

I miss the graphics of when you talked to people and you saw them 3-D and whatever, and now it's just a drawing, but whatever. I'm just glad I can have Persona 3 wherever I go!

I actually hated P3 on the PS2. All the goodness was buried in crap combat, and the dragged out tediousness of navigation during the day. P3P is far more streamlined, the combat is vastly superior, and navigating is 100 times faster. I`s say this was the definative version of the game it they hadn`t hacked out all the cut-scenes. That`s the only thing that really bothers me. Aside from that, I`m really enjoying it.

A fine game. The average PSP RPG, nothing special imo. Worth playing tho.

I too, am also a fan of both the original and FES. I have at least 13 hours of gameplay in it so far and I love it. I notice theres a little bit of a lag at the start of battles (nothing that would bother me) but I just noticed it. It seems like you can go through this game a lot faster than it's PS2 sisters, without the cutscenes and all. And I'm loving the new stories from the Female MC's social links. I just LOVE it. Also, is the relationships in P3P the same as they are in P4? Like, can you only be in one serious relationship?

I've never played the original. I think it's pretty cool... maybe a tad overrated from what I've played so far.

Love it. Although I can't understand why the game can't be rendered instead of the point and click style? I mean, it's not like the environments were too complex in the PS2 version.

its great. point-n-click exploration makes it less appealing but its still a great game.

I, who can't usually stand the craziness of Japanese anime culture, thought this was simply another Japanese RPG with another crazy storyline. I mean, they shoot themselves in the head to use abilities! But I followed the hype and got the game, thinking there has to be something more to it, and I wasn't disappointed. It's presented in a smart and very involving way, and it has a unique visual style, with some addictive and satisfying gameplay in both the social life in the day and the battling at night. So far I'm loving it. :D

^Does it get repetitive? I was thinking of buying this but I'm not really used to RPGs, and for $40...I don't want to get bored.

Could anyone help?

Personally, I'm very easily annoyed by repetitiveness in games, and it all depends on how much you like combat. I find the combat to be fun and fast paced, addictive even, and you're constantly rewarded for every battle. It might technically be a lot of the same, but it's a lot of the same great system that I enjoy. About half of the game is spent in dungeon crawling, killing monsters and advancing further up a tower that is your school by day. The other half is spent in a sort of social life simulation, quite light and fun, you get to interact with characters and make choices that reflect in your combat performance. The combat would wear down on it's own, but the social aspect keeps it fresh and is constantly throwing new things at you. The game actually makes sure you don't spend too long in either side of the game, since your character must manage his time or he/she will become fatigued, lessening your combat performance and your academic achievements.

Cool, i think I'll give it a try then. Thanks man, that helps a lot.

The main story is fully voiced, but the social links and NPCs in the town don't have voice-overs.

Now, were the social link segments voiced in FES? I haven't played P3 before, but I know P4's were voiced.

Nope. IIRC, only the Fool and Death social link is voiced in P3, FES and P3P.
