Hey there gs &gf'ers. The PS3's youtube xl is pretty terrible for me. running on a 46' screen the resolution is so pixelated it's hard to make any thing out. So I use the standard youtube desktop version. The only trouble I have with it,* is that I can't use the search button in the PS3 browser, I can write the words out fine, the the button is not clickable, so have to search for the videos through google. Anyone else find this when using the desktop youtube on the PS3 browser? One other small thing about the browser while I'm here, ever since PSN came back online, I keep getting this prompt from trend micro to buy security softwear every time I open up the web browser. It's begging to get annoying now. *(aside from half the thumbnails not loading and the resolution button)
I agree, I much prefer the standard Youtube page rather than use YouTube XL. They should really consider taking out XL or change it's layout.Sk8ter_213
You can do that yourself by simply selecting the standard layout.

I use Youtube XL I just use the small screen (not the full size or almost full size). The quality of videos is the same in Youtube Standard and YouTube XL...
Like had been said ps3youtube.com is the best way to watch youtube on the ps3 browser. It's not as bad quality wise. There is also a thing called the playstation 3 bookmarklet (search google or youtube) that helps youtube a bit. The browser is pretty bad though.
Don't worry, considering the current trend of electronics, the PS4 will probably have some kind of tablet layout, with the XMB in the middle screen, and other screens you can scroll to on either side with APPS and WIDGETS. Which means there would be a Youtube App. Problem solved. :P eventually.
Actually, just a few weeks ago, the search button on the standard Youtube page started working for me on my PS3. Though when I put the cursor over it, the arrow doesn't change to a finger. However, I can still click it. Weird, as I used to have the same problem as you (not being able to click the search button) before. I don't know when it happened.

To activate high quality there is a short tutorial for it, directly on the page. It works very well even though using a laptop would still be a bit more comfortable.
Facebook doesn't even work and Sony's been making some promotional stink about it for almost a year now. The damn browser can't even use two of the biggest sites most users are likely to use..
