It's the way your network is set up. Also are you on wireless? And are you on Nat3?

You may have to port forward or get your settings to Nat 2. It'll greatly decrease those messages.

Type 1 is an ethernet connection. Type 2 is a wired router connection or wired LAN. Type 3 is a wireless router connection or wireless LAN.

It happens to me when my PS3, my laptop, my sister's laptop, my dad's laptop for work, and our main home computer are all using our wireless router at the same time and the wireless phone starts ringing. I think it's due to interference, it's normal though because of multiple connection in a same area.

thanks for clearing that up, I've only been signed out once out of wack so I thought it was going to happen more often due to mine being NAT type 3.

Isn't NAT network address translation?Using one IP that is shown publicly? thats what i thought it was.Since it is a networking issue.Or is there like a defined PS wording for NAT? just wondering.I am a network administrator and we use NAT for what i gave above but is there something thats playstation specific with that acronym?

I don't think so. NAT is an acronym for what you said. I also get the signed out message while playing Ridge Racer. It could be from interference or simply a hiccup in your Wireless network router. I may try switching to ethernet to see if that relieves it. It really isnt that big of a deal for me. Quit, sign back in, pickup where I left off in the game.

nat 2 is better for overal preformance in online gamming, just like an open nat on the 360 is so much better than a strict one

actually a wired router connection can still be type 3, without port forwarding... if you open the ports from the router to the ps3 and or 360 then the nat will open for 360, and type2 with ps3.

I am a wireless connection it's been very steady lately so it may have been my ISP, anyways, I have a Wireless connection atnd just wanna point out that I am NAT 2, so your statement about NAT types are untrue.

i never said nat 3 was wireless. if you forward the ports or have a new top of the line router, than you will have nat 2 even on wireless.
