Courtesy of Gallup:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Fifty-five percent of Americans now support the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a major turnaround from five months ago when 42% approved and 53% disapproved. This is the first time a majority of Americans have approved of the healthcare law, also known as Obamacare, since Gallup first asked about it in this format in November 2012.

@n64dd: i had to login just to tell you how wrong you are. Seriously, you clearly know nothing about health care. The issue here is that may call it a waste you would not say that if you ever went to a hospital for any. With out this you would find anything you medically need you would pay out the nose for. How is communal medical support a bad idea? Dude everyone one is going to get in one point in there life and need help to get well and you want to turn down help when you are the most vulnerable or allow companies to over charge you to help you get better?

If you don't like social programs then don't use road, mail, or public schools. have fun not using road and mail and it's clear your not using schools ether.

@n64dd: 1. the post office is fine. it getting better with the mass of new worker they've added.

2. You want make america one giant series of corporations trying to drain you out of everything even more then now?

3.Add on that government involvement in health care is not an issue. It's an issue when they use it to push a personal agenda, play favorites, and/or have conflict of interest that lead to corruption.

With health care the us government can't stay out of it. they have to regulate it one way or another to ensure standard practices. It makes sure the people who work with in it do their job correctly, pharmaceutical companies do not sell harmful products, and the people can be helped in general in an emergency. Financing is a big part of it which with out it massive amount of people will die.

The last thing you want to control health care is a for profit company that has the freedom to abandon you at your sickest in the name of profit. Yet some how you don't want a financially neutral party that won't cut you loose when you are sick so they can make money to not be in charge of health care?

Most likely because people had something to compare it to (Trumpcare) to see that the alternative is a disaster. Instead of swallowing the usual GOP chud thrown at them, they were able to see that there were a lot of things in the ACA that they liked and wanted to stay.

Everything the government has tried to run it's ruined. They can barely run the postal service. Get your shit out of here.

@hillelslovak: Communism is the extreme of socialism. It's Totalitarianism and socialism together making one big mess. not any better then Totalitarianism and capitalism together making one big mess.

But national socialism fought communism directly during world war 2, and exponents of both systems bloviated to no end about how each were incompatible.

Please don't insult my intelligence. We all know that group that fought communism in WW2 was not socialist. Try again.

Oh, so those decades of Hitler droning on, alongside his ideological contemporaries, about the superiority of national socialism did not at all happen, right?

National socialism is a misnomer. The ideology is much closer to fascism than socialism.

The "socialism" in "national socialism" is literally as meaningless as the "democratic people's republic" in the DPRK. There was practically nothing actually socialist about the Nazis. Among other things, they outsourced their military assets to privately owned, for-profit entities like Porsche and Daimler Benz. The last thing an actual socialist government would EVER do... is outsource their own military assets to capitalists.

@hillelslovak: sorry but he did not do that. His speech before going to war were about in proving and uniting the German people and xenophobia policies.

Nothing that party did was socialist.

National socialism wasn't socialism. It was a dictatorship. The goal of socialism is communism.

Anyways, ACA has been a disaster and needs to replaced, but replaced with something better.

It's a less insane version of communism. They're both horrible and oppressive ways of governing.

I think people are seeing why this works. Down side is, the upcoming health care plan is looking to bend over a number of folks if it's allowed. Speaking as someone who tried for ten years to get health care prior to "Obamacare", if health care went back to private, I would lose mine immediately. No one was willing to give me health care even though I could afford it. Past medical condition prevented me from gaining any traction with any insurer.

We went from okay to bad to worse with the current administration.

It was essentially the thing that Paul Ryan had been hinting at for years. Block grants, shifting of costs to the eldery/poor, lowering tax credits....but apparently that wasn't good enough.

Irrelevant though, seeing as things were sooooo much better before the ACA. Just a flat repeal should have been enough.

It's almost like Republican voters are horrified when the reality of their party's bumper sticker slogans are written up into actual policy.

Weird...

@n64dd: So denmark, which a socialist democracy and way better governing then america, is one of the worst governments ever?

Dude, it's not the style of government you have but how much you balance the power of the governments between its people and branches. A government can be a democracy and still be horrible just because the systems power is off balance. Socialism does not do that, A corrupt government does that.

Denmark has no army. If somebody wanted to invade them, they'd be screwed. There is more to a government then you think. Name one country that's socialist that has a good army (even though denmark is hybrid and not true socialism).

A military force is not the only factor of a successful country. Also, even by suggesting Denmark is a hybrid system, anytime the American people demand reform, it's always met with the same nonsensical criticism that it's socialist, nevermind that it is similar to the nordic state's systems.

Seriously, any attempt of reform is considered socialist to diehard teaparty conservatives.

Looking at that graph again... Did the change start when Trump won the election?
