2 people dead, suspect shot. Had fake explosives.

General public helped the police tackling the suspect to stop further attacks (knowing he had an explosive suit on) and removing the knife from a distance while the police held down and eventually shot the suspect.

Footage online, can't post it here obviously.

Hoax explosive device. My first impression is this was more about creating fear than anything. And ending up as a martyr...

Because they couldn't risk the bombs being real.

The terror suspect shot dead on London Bridge has been named as 28-year-old Usman Khan.

The 28-year-old was convicted in 2012 for terrorism offences and released from prison in December 2018 on licence, Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said.

The Commissioner said Usman Khan had been living in the Staffordshire area and officers were searching the address.

He added police were "not actively seeking anyone else" over the attack.

He also confirmed the victims who were killed were a man and woman while the three people who were taken to hospital included a man and two women.

In a statement, Mr Basu said: "The investigation into the attack near London Bridge continues at a pace.

"Whilst we are still in the early stages of the investigation, at this time we are not actively seeking anyone else in relation to the attack.

Truly horrible stuff. I used to get off at Waterloo East and walk via London Bridge to my office in summer.

To be fair, most outlets have been very careful in what conclusions they're drawing. There was another bout of stabbing attacks today, barely metres from the Dutch parliament, in the Hague. The media that I've seen has made little to no suggestion that those attacks might have been politically motivated.

@sancho_panzer: Hmmm fair enough. Most media outlets aren't that careful though... it's all about creating fear and drama because that attracts eyeballs and they can advertise sh*t.

Just feels so uniquely British. You can imagine the scene in the pub later... "So I grabbed a Narwhal tusk and..."

The hero was previously in jail for cutting a woman's throat? If true then reality is better than fiction.

@n64dd: Tragically, two people died. Thankfully guns aren't readily available otherwise there would have been more deaths. That's argument enough for me...

Besides, we don't need them....we have narwhal tusks and fire extinguishers!
