This is a deliberately misleading title and thread and textbook shitposting. Not only is there no material here that suggests Biden is "scared to debate," but the actual article cited is taken out of context. The article merely suggests Biden should make demands for debating. Also where the hell did you get "NYTs are Democrat strategists?" They're a journalist's outlet. The article writer isn't even a political strategy specialist, he's a foreign affairs op-ed writer.

The campaign behind tries to goad the leader into additional debates every cycle as Trump did last week and Fox is doing so here. The campaign leading slaps it down by saying, "we will stick with the standard 3 debates," as Biden did last week.

If I were a democratic strategist, I would simply not allow Biden to debate Trump. Not because he's scared, but because Trump doesn't debate. Trump will simply start throwing insults, lying his ass off and throwing a bunch of conspiracy theories. It will be a circus that will only make for good T.V but have zero depth. Trump is a joke and he'll make the debate into a joke.

I hate to say this but no one cares about those rumours about Biden’s mental health. Trump constantly focusing on them is showing how out of touch he is with the electorate in this election cycle. Also the biden camp wants to debate trump. Trump just wants more debates.

Debates are going to be of fairly low significance in the general (unlike the primaries, where they can make a larger difference). What is a debate going to reveal in this case anyway? Most people know where both candidates stand on issues. As for tradition, my guess is that it matters a lot less now than in times past.
