Conservative group pushes back on bipartisan rail safety bill | The Hill

Saw that coming.

A conservative advocacy group is pushing lawmakers to oppose a bipartisan rail safety bill that was introduced following the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment, claiming it would create “gross inefficiencies” for businesses and give the Department of Transportation “unimaginable authority.”

The proposed legislation wasalready facing pushbackfrom some Senate Republicans. Sen.John Thune(S.D.), the No. 2 Senate Republican, suggested that it was too soon to take action and that he was “uncomfortable” giving “much more power” to the Department of Transportation and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

I guess crying about photo-ops to trick the dullards is a better "plan".

Oh gee, we certainly wouldn't want to inconvenience businesses from making billions in record profits every year.

It's always Republicans who leap to the defense of billionaires in the face of poor people getting sick and dying. Then they'll tell you both parties are the same.

It's the ridiculous cycle where shareholders think they must see increasing profits every year forever until the end of all time. Because there's obviously infinite money floating around.

I’m shocked, shocked, I tell ya! Did they happen to use the phrase “government takeover” or “one size fits all solution” in their opposition statement?

Republicans give you dirtier air, food, and water, while making schools unsafe for kids, and life more dangerous for everyone, all so they can unburden the wealthy from taxation and line the pockets of special interests.

There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the Republican Party is a party of traitors to the American people.

We can finally put that notion to rest, I hope. It's not just mean tweets or whatever moronic argument was in vogue.

Does anyone here still think the parties are the same?

@mattbbpl: There will still be conservatives claiming that the Democrats are destroying the country.

@sargentd you seemed really concerned about railroads a few weeks ago, and were crying about photo-ops for some reason. Which as you know solve nothing.

Do you agree with this bipartisan bill or was it all just theater?

Political theater and fake outrage it was then. Sigh.
