@Telekill: That strawman holds so little water and can even be disproven by a little arithmetics.

You linked 3 right wing sources, and 4 sources in total. I rejected 2.

If we subtract the total by the number of rejected sources, we get 2 (4 - 2 = 2). As 3 out of 4 sources are right wing, that means that at the very least, I accepted 1 right wing source (2 - 1 = 1).

Are you tired of losing every debate you are on in this board?

For the record, there are plenty of left leaning sources that are not accepted here either. There is a reason respected outlets like NYT and Washington post are very frequently cited, while Occupy Democrats and Buzzfeed are completely ignored.

@Telekill: No one is gonna stop you from posting. I just want you to reflect on your own arguments, and drop some of your partisanship. Become as decent of a poster you are in System Wars, here as well. This place badly needs more effective right wing posters. And you can fill that role!

Maybe you should go back to system wars if you don’t want to put in the effort.

It goes to show no conservative here was able to post a study or court findings to justify a significant majority of the provisions in these GA Laws.

It goes to show the only conservative who is still and mostly posting is @Telekill. And he's literally trolling right now with.

So sad.

@Maroxad: Here's the difference. System Wars is about videogames. It doesn't matter at all in the past, now or the future what videogames are really doing.

The left leaning Critical Theory ideology that says my children are trash racists because they're white...? I won't allow that and if I find out that any of their teachers are incorporating that trash into their curriculum, I will be suing them directly, the school and the school board.

Videogames affect nothing. Ideologies can lead to genocide.

The point is that when you stop getting so emotional over everything, you can be a decent poster. I am saying what I say because I have faith in you, faith in that you can do better.

Also, that sounds EXTREMELY authoritarian, trying to shelter your children from even hearing certain viewpoints is the pinnacle of authoritarinism. Especially if you are willing to use violence to reach that end.

Getting exposed to multiple viewpoints doesnt hurt. When I was a little boy, we read all sorts of different ideologies in class. In history class we even read and discussed Mein Kampf and parts of the Communist Manifesto. Exposing your child to numereous ideologies, even extreme ones is healthy.

Ah, I don’t know about that.

Children are incredibly impressionable and lack the maturity to really wager the pros and cons of various ideas against each other within a critical framework. It is a parent’s responsibility to protect them, to a degree. I certainly would not want my child exposed to particular ideas in youth, and if they were, only very carefully. I wouldn’t claim that authoritarian, only prudent parentage.

There‘s a degree of maturity at play. Young children should be taught the foundation of critical thinking, not the ideas to which it is to be applied.

That is not prudent at all. If anything, the overprotectiveness leads to children growing up intellectually stunted. And there has been plenty of research done to demonstrate this.

So not only is it authoritarian, but incredibly destructive for the mental well being of a child.

Look at the germans, they even go as far as to read Mein Kampf in some cases. And Germany is arguably one of the least racist countries in the world.

If my child would be exposed to bad ideas, I, as an authority figure, could easily refute them. Not only that, but I could steer my child's thinking, in the direction that would help them refute the bad ideas themselves.

Mind you, I'm not against exposing youth to new ideas, but I agree with Tele that there's a distinguishment to be had in using various ideas to instill the foundations of critical thought vs. instilling particular beliefs without context.

I'm sure those children reading Mein Kampf aren't reading it in the same context or with the same intent as when Hitler was in power. There's a difference, and that difference is the reason why so many seek the young to indoctrinate.

Oftentimes instilling particular beliefs, or letting one be exposed to particular beliefs. Is pretty good for critical thought. Not just one, growing up. But being exposed to a lot of ideas growing up is healthy and trains critical thinking skills. This is because being exposed to new ideas, especially ones that are controversial for the child, can lead to them questioning their own beliefs which is a blessing for critical thinking skills.

In my personal anecdotes. One of the main reasons I am an atheist today, is because I met muslims, hindus and buddhists growing up. Meeting these people allowed me to question the faith I was raised in, and in my questioning, I became atheist.

That instilment of ideas may be the only thing preventing a child from being raised in an echo chamber. One may not like the ideas, but nothing is worse for intellectual fertility, than an echo chamber.

Edit: My only issue is that while students are usually taught the values of diversity and tolerance. There is no education to its contrary. Like I said, exposure to a wide variety of ideas is something we could all need.

The bill required counties to have a minimum of two Saturdays of early voting (option of Sundays as well). Beforethe bill, Georgia used to only require only oneSaturday of early voting.

Would you like to try again? I'll wait.

First off, thank you for explaining your point of view. As ridiculous as it seems to me, it does provide some sense of insight and hopefully some future understanding.

With that said, you realize that stuff you're talking about is a.) the minority of a minority of people, and b.) most of it is just theoretical, non-practical, oh-shit-I-wasted-my-time-on-a-lib-arts-degree professor speak, right?

Not. Going. To. Happen.

End of story.

The left doesn't call it out because the left is, for the most part, somewhat smart. They know by calling it out they will enflame it, causing it to gain traction. There might be some degree of pandering but, again, this is mostly done to get them to STFU, not to appease them. You think Biden, a corporate shill from Delaware which acts as a essentially an on-shore off-shore account for numerous companies, is going to actually do what the far far far left wants?

I wish the right knew that, because then CRT (to use as an example) would have died off a week after it was known about. But no, it's more important to make a big dramatic deal out of non-things that shouldn't be things, which in turn causes non-things to actually become things.

We could have "Oh look, critical race theory....well, that's dumb, moving on"

Instead we get "OH MY GOD! CRITICAL RACE THEORY! WTF IS THAT! HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT CRT!!!!! IT"S GOING TO RAPE YOUR DOG!" and it's the right, not the left, making the big deal out of it.

@Telekill: I criticize one specific aspect, because what you are doing is extremely cultlike.

Just like how the GOP are trying to suppress votes, suppression of expression (and that includes voting) is NEVER ok. And that is why I hope the GOP gets a good what-for on this. Look at the GOP now, instead of getting better ideas, ideas that people would actually vote for, they keep trying to milk the culture war, and suppress votes? Is this really a viable long term strategy? You will need to do a lot more than just suppress votes. The lack of a good platform, and botching COVID is what caused you to lose Georgia in the first place. Make better policies than trying to suppress ideas you don't like.

How about we answer the question in your opening post in this thread?

@Telekill said:

What exactly are the violations? A large percentage of the GA population are PoC so I'm doubting they would enact racist voting policies.

But that is EXACTLY why. Republicans don't care about democracy. They care about maintaining power. And suppression of votes against the majority, is the only way for unpopular platforms to maintain power. This is why the republicans are trying their best to suppress the vote in general. They know people don't like their ideas. So they do everything in their power, to keep people who arent likely voters for them, suppressed.

It's all they have. Even Trump is going ham on CRT today. Imagine having to rely on culture war nonsense. I'd do that too after how bad he failed on Covid I guess.

I just wish they would stop derailing every single thread. I apologizing for first falling for it, but I am trying to steer the topic back.

@mrbojangles25: The right is using things as a source of distraction and division. CRT is just another case of that. Remember Dr Suess? Mr Potato Head? Limitations on beef? Etc. None of this stuff is a problem and most of it's hyperbole or downright lies to gin up the base and keep the country apart. The right continues to make enemies of anyone that doesn't think as they do.

@Telekill: I criticize certain aspects of your parenting, because what you are doing is extremely cultlike.

The last of self awareness is comical. The DNC platform is no better, even remotely. And cancel culture, and divisionary rhetoric designed to separate people based on class, race, gender, sexual preference just so all their problems can be blamed on the other side is very common in leftwing politics. And not just in the US. Far left political parties across the globe have done the same thing. What good ideas has the left come up with besides calling everyone a sexist, racist, homophobe, xenophobe or every other phobe/ist for the sake of division, and promises of free shit to buy votes?

@eoten: Three Four things

  1. We are talking about Republicans. In particular, the GA Republicans. Why are you trying to derail the discussion with your red herring?
  2. I am not a Democrat to begin with, I am not even american.
  3. Republicans are the kings of Cancel Culture. Don't even get me started on that.
  4. No lack of self awareness. As I am not the one doing cancel culture. Association fallacy on your part. People in this thread, have repeatedly made a point not to paint the a whole coalition with its worst members.

None of this doesnt change the fact that democrats don't do it. But keep on topic.

Edit: Had to add an extra point. Because that post of yours was terrible. Perhaps you know that what the republicans is doing is indefensible, so you keep trying to toss red herrings.

@Maroxad: ... You're not even American and you're trying to act like you understand anything that has to do with America?

You now have zero credibility with anything concerning American politics.

Funny I think that about people who support the lies coming from a certain former guy.

Democrat ran areas have a higher hdi and qol, and make up most of our GDP. Democrat presidents do better on the economy. The countries that are all higher hdi and qol than USA have adopted policies Democrats are pushing for.

The more you learn.

@zaryia: Dude what? What alternate reality do you live in? All of CA is decimated. People are leaving in droves. Northern CA counties actually want to separate from the state becoming their own state or even join with Idaho. CA aside, you can look at any Democrat controlled state and compare it to Republican controlled states.

Look at the difference. The Dem controlled one's surely excel at something though... homelessness and poverty in general.

@Telekill: American or not. The absolute stupidity of Republican politics interact s with the politics of my country.

The worst takes in my country's politics are arguably an import from the Republican party.

This is one of the many reasons I say the Republican party, at least the post-Tea Party mess, is not just a threat to the US, but the entire west.

I like how you had to resort to an ad hominem, can't actually take down my arguments? Perhaps you need to get some better arguments. That always helps. But alas, ad hominem fallacy, disenfranchisement. GOP ideas are so bad, they need to resort to dishonest tactics like these xD

@Telekill: Your narrative approach is cute, but how well does it hold up to empirical data?

Get over it, Democratic states are generally doing a lot better than Republican states.

I don't think you understand what that entails. You stated, "They are decreasing time not increasing it." The reality is they're adding an additional Saturday for early voting state wide. You then retorted by stating: "There are many many many more restrictions" which has nothing to do with the additional time. A la moving goalposts.

@Maroxad: Well, you gave him a much higher benefit of the doubt than I would have, but it's time to cut your losses. He's kicked you out of his self imposed echo chamber, and there's little else to do other than let him wallow in his own ignorance. No need to feel bad about it, it's his choice.
