Mark Walker was surprisingly blunt this week regarding how he feels about how the GOP tax cut proposal would impact the deficit.

"It's a great talking point when you have an administration that's Democrat-led," said Representative Mark Walker, Republican of North Carolina and the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, a group of about 150 conservative House members. "It's a little different now that Republicans have both houses and the administration."

Can we all admit that this is all a political charade yet?

So you are claiming that one idiot who have called some women colleagues "eye Candy" and some other dumb shit is talking for the entire republican party?

But even then way to miss the boat on what he is actually saying.

@Jacanuk: Great, I'm looking forward to the party proving this guy wrong by passing deficit neutral tax reform.

You know that won't happen. Not with Trump at the helm and the divide between him and the republicans, not to mention when the republicans can´t even, when in control, repeal obamacare, it does not promise much for the future.

But that does not mean the deficit don't matter, because it does , it needs to be smaller despite the fact that right now the economy is not to bad.

Anyone with two brain cells has known this for decades. The GOP has a worse track record on deficits than Democrats.

I think Republicans are secretly goths.

Because they tend to lead America into a depression.

That is precisely the MO for conservatism. The rules, family values, fiscal responsibility, rugged individualism, principled government is ALWAYS just some other guy that doesn't happen to have all the bells and whistles of political power yet. Conservatism is the Lambchops of politics and the Republican voter only listens to the sock rather than the hand.

Not really, but i will admit that conservatism is not the golden buzzer , but it´s much better than the alternative.

@horgen: Agreed. It's only important to note as they attempt to frame the debate over their tax cuts.

It will be more important once the interest rate on the debt goes up.
