This seems pretty naked to me. Gatez himself denies that it's witness tampering and instead claims it's "witness testing" - whatever that is.

This is pretty blatant. I don't see how it's meant to do anything else than intimidate.

And what would be the difference between witness tampering and witness testing?

@horgen: I haven't the slightest. I'll defer to Mr. Gaetz.

I mean. Wouldn't testing be trying to find the limit for what could be considered tampering?

Don't worry guys, that's just harmless "alternative" witness tampering, nothing to see here.

It is pretty stupid that he would threaten a man that was already convicted in court of lying to Congress before he testifies to Congress a second time a month before going to jail for his original lies.

Who does he think he is, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?

What relevance is AOC's tweet again? Oh right, it's more bullshit equivalence.

She threatened to use her power as a member of Congress as retaliation to being trolled on Twitter and got over 200,000 likes for her threat. But I’m sure you don’t care because Don Jr. is the enemy and AOC is the savior and new leader of the Democratic party. After all, she said herself that she’s now “the boss” and that anybody complaining about how ridiculous the Green New Deal is is just yelling from the cheap seats.

This thread is about WITNESS tampering, something that is illegal. Simple threats aren't. The AOC reference is simply deflection.

Call it a deflection if you want, but in both situations a member of Congress (in her case being a representative-elect) used threats on Twitter to attempt to get the result they wanted. But you are only upset about the person that threatened Cohen because he was being pulled in front of congress in hopes that his testimony could potentially be used to start impeachment proceedings against Trump.

And since when has something needed to be illegal for it to get a thread here? People start several threads a day to drag the GOP through the mud even if the thread has nothing in it that is illegal...

It is, and the distinction has already been pointed out to you. You're just trying to divert attention to something which is not equivalent.

Since you only want to quote the part of my rebuttal that you can answer while leaving the rest of it out, I can see that you don’t get why both instances are wrong but political bias only allows you to see one of them as wrong. If any Republican was telling critics of one of their controversial policies “I’m the boss” they would have a 500+ post thread bashing them and anyone that voted for them within hours but it’s okay when AOC does it.

Now I need to pine for the days when Republicans replied with, "Yeah it's unethical, but is it it illegal?" We've moved from that to, "Yeah it's illegal, but it's tangentially similar to something not-illegal that someone else has done."

I'm not going to quote the irrelevant parts. I'm trying to stick to the subject at hand: potential witness tampering by a member of Congress, which is illegal. AOC hasn't done anything of the sort so it seems quite bizarre that she would be brought up. Continue to play the part of a victim though.

If Gatez broke the law with his tweet then he needs to be prosecuted. My post mentioning AOC threatening Don Jr. over a meme he shared does not change that.
