How on earth will GOP ever consider a presidential debate fair when their whole platform is built on lies?

This has been the most outrageous statement you ever made. All one has to do is look at the current administration and Democrat party to see lies that actually hurt the American citizens.

Trump, Biden Might Not Debate in 2024 as Republicans Ditch Organizing Group

Surprised this hasn't been brought up yet. Seems Republicans won't be participating in future presidential debates.

If I had to guess, they can't compete on substantive policy that Democratic Party backs and has the support of a majority of voters, and instead the GOP hopes to win by hammering on social issues.

The Republican's not only have to debate their opponent but the moderator's as well. The debates are bullshit.

Maybe Republicans should not have a platform built on lies then. Beats playing victim all the time. The moderators will often call out lies, that is part of their job.

Only the Republicans get called out. When a Democrat get in trouble or can't answer a question the moderators step in and help them and give them cover.

Every single post here brings the same nonsense comments from the same right-wingers desperate to spread the most absurd and easily debunked talking points from the silliest sources. They're even denying factcheck, the most non-partisan source you could find online. It's complete absurdity.

Postmodernism. They are just as distrustful towards the scientific community and scientific method now as they are to well, basically anything else that shows them in a negative light. Sadly I think this is inevitable when their positions are being more and more rooted in paranoia, conspiracy theories and opposing the left for the sake of opposing the left.

Believe it or not someone on this board actually laughed at me for using mathematics (boolean algebra) to construct a case.

@lamprey263: its a mixed bag. The right look like chimpanzees on scientific issues. The left look like fools on most social issues. And on the economy, the left has it better than the right, though neither are good options. So mainly, the right is just avoiding the debates because of scientific issues like global warming, and vaccine science. These things just make them look like buffoons. I wouldn't want to appear like an idiot on stage when it comes to these things either.

Imo the right looks even more foolish than them, even on this. They are the ones who were (and some are) against gay marriage. They are the ones who vote against legalizing weed. They are the ones banning 1000's of books.

Maybe one of the real reasons for being scared of these debates.

@zaryia: many people are against gay marriage. Personally I'm not, but many are. Instead of going against peoples beliefs, why not move and get married in some left wing state??

Also I'm fully on the side of CRT. I think history should be truthful, and brushing over it just makes you look like a delusional fool. That's the only thing the left has it right on social issues.

What kind of logic is this? Just imagine if we applied the lens of race to this same argument instead of sexual orientation.

The reforms they have asked for are pretty reasonable. I'm not sure what the problem is. They cam always go to a different organization. It seems like they are willing to debate, they just want someone else picking the moderators.

Renewable energies have been perfectly viable and cost effective in the past decade or so. It is only going up from here too.

Their reasoning is rooted in persecution complex. There is nothing reasonable about these demands. They are acting like children.

Again, they may not have been treated neutrally, but they have been treated fairly.

If they are not treated neutrally then that isn't fair.

That is not necessarily fairness.

Fairness would be to apply the same standards to both. However, if Trump is consistantly lying. Then it makes sense for him to be called out on it.

The reason the moderators were so harsh on trump was because of how much he was acting in bad faith. I recall the moderators being far nicer to Mike Pence. So maybe the issue is with Trump.

RNC and posters ITT claim 2020 debate bias against Trump and Pro-Biden. In the literal debate stage.

No data on this has been given showing this. This requires some tangible evidence like a study, and not "muh feels he didn't get to shout over everyone for hours!".

To further elaborate. It is no secret that Trump lied a lot more than biden during the presidential debates.

To be "neutral" in a debate like this would be akin to treating one side kid gloves while holding the other accountable to the standard of an adult running for the highest office in the world. Which ironically enough isn't very neutral at all, when one side has a clear and blatant handicap. If you do this, not only do you fail at being actually neutral, but you are being incredibly unfair to the ones who actually try to hold some resemblance of sticking to reality.

It is you, who advocates for unfairness and favoritism when you are deliberately advocating for one side being given a handicap and special treatment.

Bias of course in any debate is impossible, unless you are literally advocating for a middle ground fallacy (which again, as I pointed above, is not exactly fair nor neutral). But if we are to be biased, why not hold ourselves biased to accuracy? Lies and disinformation have no place when running a country.

Indeed, the only data I can find is that Trump lies a lot,

https://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/24/trumps-false-or-misleading-claims-total-30573-over-four-years/

Seems like it is a far less convoluted explanation than the entire media has it set out against hte GOP. Especially as they continue to fail to provide evidence to assert their claims.

Yup, and Hilary got debate questions asked the night before, no such courtesy was given to any of her opponents, and let's not forget the loaded questions that go something like "Hillary, how does it feel to be the first woman president?" "Trump, why do you hate women?" Or Chris Wallace demanding Trump denouncing white supremacy, something he has never endorsed before and had denounced dozens of times prior, including in front of Chris Wallace himself in prior interviews, in a manner to suggest he has some kind of problem with doing so. Yet, Joe Biden has never been asked to denounce segregation, after he has come out in praise of segregationalists and let's not forget his "I don't want my children to go to school in a racial jungle" comments.

At this point, people who pretend there has not been any bias are being intentionally obtuse, and trying to justify one side bending the rules to gain an advantage.

He was likely asked not to stalk and walk on the heels of his opponent on stage during those debates. Totally one sided affair. =P

Rofl. Cons are so silly.

Biden had an ear piece to get anwsers.

Well said, and you can literally watch the old debates and watch this unfold. Yet you will have clowns on here demand a study as proof 😅😅😅.

Don't forget the countless times the media misquoted Trump on the border and allowed Democrats to misquote him . They will force you into a false position and then make you defend it.

Citation? Proof?

This is your opinion. Do not frame it as a fact.

Both were asked tough questions. Do you have a study or report on Trump being asked MORE hard questions, being given less speaking time, or direct bias? This does not appear to have happened. I need something more tangible. Sorry.

Huh? I watched the 2020 debates. I saw tough questions for both sides. You would need some kind of analysis with data (study or report) that takes a look at both sets of questions.

This appears like it's YOUR biased opinions, rather than the debates all just magically being against Trump. Clearly.

Both of you, just say it's your opinion and we won't ask for proof. An "IMO" will do.

That was proven to be false information perpetrated by the right wing.

I do not understand why conservatives are directly lying so much in this thread. First they lied about a 2020 moderator who was suspended now they are lying about an ear piece.

Why not just be honest.

It's an immutable trait. Please do explain how it isn't comparable?

I posted analysis but you didn't like the source 🤣🤣🤣. You never do if it goes against your narrative.

@zaryia: many people are against gay marriage interracial marriage. Personally I'm not, but many are. Instead of going against peoples beliefs, why not move and get married in some left wing state??

Also I'm fully on the side of CRT. I think history should be truthful, and brushing over it just makes you look like a delusional fool. That's the only thing the left has it right on social issues.

Same old sh*t keeps rearing it's head, over and over.

By all means, please go console every rape victim impregnated and tell them they were irresponsible. Better yet, do the same to every woman with a non-viable fetus or ectopic pregnancy and tell them they can't terminate.

I'm against straight marriage on religious grounds because I am a follower of Sappholicism. I'd be offended to hear that someone was straight married around me and frankly I want it to be illegal in my state.

70% in US now support Same Sex Marriage.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/350486/record-high-support-same-sex-marriage.aspx

Including a republican majority

"many" do indeed oppose same sex marriage, but MANY MORE do favor it. Also your religion should not dictate what other people do. Use religion as a personal moral guide if you wish, not something that should be legislated.

Edit: Anyways, since you clearly are eager about bringing up your pet issue of IP protection laws, why don't you go and make a thread about it? That way we can discuss it in more detail without fear of derailing the topic.

@HoolaHoopMan: lol, and now you wonder why the Republicans don't want to debate on stage and argue bs with the left. Not only do you give out rigged questions aka 2016, by softballs Hilary and loading questions against trump, you even bribe the moderators. Funny how Chris Wallace got hired by CNN a few years later 🤣. Guess CNN paid him off to rig it and hire him 5 years later to try and make it look legit.

Wow you've veered into tin foil hat theory. Bribes are paid when the work is done. Not years later. This is sad.

they pre bribed him. Obviously they won't hire him right after the debate, otherwise it would look suspicious. Just ask chris cuomo and the other corrupt people having affairs with their workers at CNN how things are done. CNN played it smart on this, waited 5 years before hiring him. We all knew back in 2016 it was going to happen, there was absolutely no surprise there.

and like I said, many oppose it due to their traditional values and teachings. You do know that religion is a freedom protected by the constitution right? There are even professors out there who refuse to use pronouns for any transgender studens of theirs outside of their traditional biological sex, and these professors are WINNING in COURT because whatever the students are asking are directly going against the teachers religious freedoms.

Also Im not going to derail this thread with IP. Both parties are obviously strongly in favour of disgusting IP laws. So the question on the economy is which party is better. On top of both parties being in favour of the disgusting IP laws (which is nothing more than a huge disguised TAX on the middle class), both parties also have no problems with spending tax payers money like they're at a strip club. In this case, the left are more responsible than the right on the economy. Trump may have been a decent president, but that doesn't excuse the fact he spent almost 10 trillion in 4 years, the ridiculous spending on his security detail, the trips to mar a lago. There is no tax payer out there that would be happy about the free spending ways of either party.
