Will probably pass. I doubt the right are going to let Trump's incompetence stand in their way too long, unfortunately.

In the event it actually does pass the House (it won't), it has 0 chance of passing the Senate.

Trump's incompetence had basically nothing to do with the inability to pass the first bill. That really was the republican majority's own inability to work together on display.

Considering they are only setting aside 8 billion more, or 200 billion short of what would be needed to actually cover those who lose their coverage because of preexisting conditions it won't actually take care of preexisting conditions. It would also allow putting lifetime limits on insurance coverage which would leave people liable for payment, once again increasing personal bankruptcy. It also doesn't require insurance companies to cover essential health benefits, leading to far more out of pocket costs for health coverage. It's not a victory for the people, but a victory once again for big business.

Look, Obamacare isn't perfect (even "evil leftist" Michael Moore thinks it's a piece of crap) but compared to what the Trump administration wants to do with it, it's the best we have RIGHT NOW. Even Trevor Noah (another "evil leftist", given what show he's on like the hst before him) says it should be TWEAKED, not abolished.

So has this vote happened yet? My understanding is that it won't pass the Senate regardless as many Republicans aren't on board with it, but I've heard Democrats really want to get Republicans on the record for being against the aca just as it's reaching new heights in popularity.

They don't have 60 votes in the senate to break the filibuster. But lets assume that it COULD pass...what will happen when deductibles and premiums don't go down in cost? What happens when old people realize they're being billed at an even higher rate? What happens when people want to re-enroll in coverage but are hit with a 30% surcharge (hard times come with making financial decisions). I thought forcing people to pay money for health coverage was awful, but the government demanding that you HOLD coverage or be penalized is OK?

This bill doesn't have any cost savings measures, they're cost SHIFTING measures only. They'll be shifted back on the poor and the elderly. God help you if you're poor AND elderly.

Tell me about it. I just got married, and my wife has a pre-existing condition as well. Currently she can't be refused coverage, but if she's looking to switch in the future (which she is because she wants to get a better job) it will be held against her if this passes.

Now, the bill under consideration in the House weakens the protections for those with pre-existing conditions. States would be allowed to get a waiver from the US Department of Health and Human Services to let insurance companies set premiums based on a person's medical background under certain circumstances. If the bill becomes law in its current form, that could mean survivors could face higher insurance bills.

Man I'm glad I live in a country with universal health care... I can't imagine how hard it'd be to have to worry about whether you can afford to go to the hospital or get basic medical treatment. It's such a basic thing that you take for granted.

The bill allows the state to decide on pre existing condition. Blame your state representatives.

Larry Levitt, of the non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation, says the bill "does not automatically eliminate coverage for people with pre-existing conditions."

"What this bill would do is unleash debates in 50 state capitals around the country about whether people with pre-existing conditions should really be covered and protected," he said.

Just another tax cut for the rich. Thankfully, this has no chance of issuing in the Senate, even with 100% of Republicans voting for this disaster.

So Mitch McConnell has stated that the Senate will refuse to vote on any version of the AHCA until the CBO scores it, and that the House version of said bill is basically going straight into the trash.

According to NPR there are a number of GOP congressmen and women who gave the AHCA a "tentative yes", voting YES on the premise that the Senate will deliver a better version of the bill. When asked whether or not they'd vote for the AHCA if it meant that it would become law and go into effect next week, several yes votes would have turned into NO votes and the whole thing would have gone down in flames.

So, I guess we'll have to see what the senate comes up with and how they react to the CBO.

Well that might be because they know a friend, or relative or even coworker with a pre-existing condition who possibly struggled before to pay for the treatment and who very likely won't if this were to pass. It's a strange concept but some of us actually care about others that are close to us, some of us even care about people we don't know but might share a similar worry. It's this odd thing called Empathy.

Now I realize this might be me talking to a wall, considering political loyalty is more your thing or a utter embrace of a die-hard Trump supporter role on this site, But people tend to take healthcare rather personal. So when they get a bill that is designed to cause further economical strife for themselves, those they care about and others with a medical issue, then I'd say they have every right to be utterly enraged.
