I was speaking to some international friends, from countries that have the virus under control and they're just stunned out how the USA seems to have per-capita an insane amount of cases, and growing exponentially each day. What's worse, is how there seems to be all these mass protests and political infighting which makes planning a solution near impossible.

What's your opinion?

Answer: Democrats and mainstream media. First they told us there was no big deal - go to china town in major cities and party it up! You’ll be fine! Then they told us if you close the border from hotspots you’re a racist. Then they twisted every presidential news conference to fit their agenda and made that the top story of the day - ignoring informing their viewers how to really protect themselves. Staging testing centres with more ‘patients’ to fit their fake news agenda didn’t help either.

Trump’s m.o. is to pit people against one another and sow chaos. It’s little wonder we’re squabbling amongst ourselves at times like these. It’s what you get when you vote for a divider, not a leader.

@MirkoS77: ‘ It’s what you get when you vote for a divider, not a leader. ‘

By that logic, what was Obama to around half the population who vote Republican? Say it with me, ‘a divider’!

@Sevenizz: Obama never actually took initiative to divide. I never heard “do nothing Republicans!!” Or “Evil Republicans!” with him. In tweets. In statements.

Trump in his rhetoric actively encourages divisions. Obama divided, but that was due more to the nature of partisanship than a concerted effort on his part. Trump is easily the most divisive president I’ve ever seen; he seems to get off on it and treats it as a political strategy.

That’s the same thing lol. The fact that he’s not a Republican is the concerted effort.

So you don’t like Trump’s style. Fine, don’t vote for him. But you can’t expect him to be all crushy with Democrats who a) don’t vote for him and b) attempt to belittle and lie about everything he does. What do you think the WH Correspondence Dinners were? The president on stage for 30 minutes roasting his opponents.

Obama tried to be bipartisan. He even picked a centrist Judge for SCOTUS (which was turned down). Trump's opposition and divisive behaviour is stuff like his blue state comments recently. As well as constant villification of his opposition. "Both sides" rhetoric following a right wing terror attack.

As for your excuses.

a) Terrible excuse. What an incredibly narcissistic excuse.

b) It is not just the democrats, most other world leaders, even his doctors treat him as a child. Who put cauliflower in his mashed potatoes so he would eat vegetables.

You just made Trump look like an even worse person. A narcissist should not be in the white house.

@Maroxad: You are Left, I am Right. We are divisive and won’t agree on much.

Back and forth is a waste of time - we aren’t changing each other’s mind in our political leanings.

Have a nice day.

When trump used it as a political tool rather than actually being a leader and handling the problem. He's not capable of leadership. Just childish name calling.

It's not a political matter. Trump just made it one because he's delusional about everything, and is lazy and refuses to due his job. He has never taken anything seriously, or taken responsibility for anything in his life, which is why he's collapsing before us because he's finally in a situation where he can't lie or bribe his way out.

Except, most people arent dogmatically left or right.

It is about respecting evidence. And there is nothing to suggest Obama is nearly as divisive as Trump.

'Compromise isn't a dirty word' -Obama
'Blue-state coronavirus bailouts are unfair to Republicans' -Trump

Be more intellectually honest, and you might see why Trump's reception has been so poor.

I am very much left on social issues, perhaps even "far-left". But I am far more mixed in economic ones. Perhaps even leaning towards the right.

Forget it. trump fans look at everything as us v them. It's why the country is so divided. They also run from facts. Can't have buyers remorse.

@leicam6: Let me guess - you assumed I’m racist because I brought up Chinatown? Cool your jets bro, I bring it up because Democrats (Mayor Deblazio and Nancy Pelosi) suggested their citizens to gather in large groups (in Chinatown) during a pandemic.

Also, out of the 5 million Chinese citizens who fled China in the early days of the spread - none of them brought the virus to North America? Bull. That’s fake news. Also CTV News is partially funded by the Canadian government who’ve, under Dr Tam, have been spreading disinformation by the WHO since the pandemic began. Get another source if you want to be credible.

Also, Canada hasn’t temperature checked a single passenger arriving at their airports and planes have been arriving from China daily - even after the supposed ban. Security literally handed them an English/French (not Chinese) pamphlet and sent them on their way. They didn’t even hand them a mask as they traversed through the airport and who knows where after. But no, not a single person from the epicentre could possibly have spread the virus this way, right?

True...

From Snopes

During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu.

Yes, it’s racist to think Chinese people who have not been to China are inherently carrying the virus.

The study was from Mount Sinai, not CTV News lol.

It’s so blatantly obvious you’re just a troll. Why do you let obvious trolling to unnoticed on this forum? @horgen

It's the media. They are making everything political now. Both sides are to blame. It's hard to tune out.
