Looks like the healthcare bill is heating up, and you know what that means! Stupid elected officials on camera saying stupid things to the people who decide if they should keep their jobs. Exhibit A folks.

Remove his healthcare then. Go forward as a good example.

Sad thing is that people as dumb as this get elected and make decisions for us all, in any country... unbelievable.

So what people are you talking about? If you mean people that refuse to work of course they don't deserve healthcare! If those people are provided it working people have to pay for it. And in doing so you are punishing responsibility and rewarding irresponsibility.

@hrt_rulz01: most countries are all like this. But with varying levels of ignorance. These people pity everyone but themselves.

@Wickerman777: this kind of logic simply needs to go away. I've worked all my life tirelessly in one job or another. I'm also a veteran. Why is working a prerequisite to health insurance?? So you're saying a rich person who worked...let's say 15 years and decides to retire @ 38, has no right to health insurance?? The uninsured cost more to the taxpayer than the insured.

So who are these people that refuse to work? What, the people who cant live off a 7 dollar an hour job so they end up hustling because its the only thing that pays the bills? And even if someone is not working at that moment, why should they not receive basic health care? Can they use the roads? Can they call the police? Can they call the fire department? Do we pretend they are being protected by a military force who attacks everyone? Do you know how many vets are out there who are jobless right now?

You know, the whole argument is health care is more important to society than any of these other things. Its not a reward. Its a basic necessity for any first world nation.

These arguments against it have all been destroyed and at this point there is zero reason to suggest these things aside from "team politics"... or for some reason you love government stealing from people and not doing what they are here to do, Even arguments of finances have utterly failed. When someone does not have health care coverage, they are forced to go to the hospital. If they dont have health coverage because they cant afford it than chances are they cant pay that hospital bill... who do you think pays that hospital bill that is 20 times more expensive than medicaid costs? You people live in your own little world that is completely void of facts and history. Its actually astonishing how little you guys seem to know on anything government related that you want to speak on and you definitely give validity to the idea of requiring a basic knowledge test before voting. Something that in general i do not support, but its so hard to not support it when i see stuff like this.

Our country is in need of a massive health care overhaul. Not just universal coverage, but we need dramatic regulations on health care providers and "big pharma". My father, even with two insurances, even as a Vietnam vet and a man who started working at 14 then voluntarily fought for the US, then worked for another 45 years, would be dead if my brother and i were not able to send him 800 dollars a month for an inhaler, that for some reason has been deemed unnecessary (even though he cant breath without it) and that for some reason... no one knows why..., went from 40 dollars, to 700. Oh, he was getting it from Canada for a while, which was only 70 dollars, but they shut that shit down.

This is nothing but exploitation, exploitation of the absolute worst type done by the worst kinds of human beings, who for some reason cannot recognize this degree of human suffering (ironically, are more often than not Jesus freaks). So congratulations on being the most disgusting human being you could ever be.

The guy is a dumbo.

Healthcare is a way you can judge any western country on, if you make money on sick people it shows a serious lack of morals.

With that said Obama´s plan is not the way to do it and neither is social universal healthcare.

There is so much wasted wealth in this world, and especially the US, but when it comes to healthcare--something actually important enough to do some good for a lot of people, something everyone should have unconditionally--suddenly people take an issue with it, and will fight tooth and nail, against their very interests. Worse, the very people that would benefit the most from this very thing are the people that would benefit from it the most.

We bail out banks

We bail out airlines

We bail out failing car companies

We go to wars in countries we don't care about over lies

We spend way too much on defense for wars that will never happen

We wage a pointless war on drugs

We imprison an obscene amount of non-violent offenders to profit companies at the expense of taxpayers

All of the above and more have cost trillions in the past decade, cost hundreds of billions each year, and will cost trillions more in the next decade. A lot (if not all) of the above are highly favored by Republicans and do constant and serious harm to the American people. But when you ask about true public service to the American public by the public servants we elected, they balk and scoff at the idea and tell us we are unworthy of it--these people that nickel and dime the very people that keep them in office year after year and waste obscene amounts of money on pointless shit--tell us we don't deserve it.

@Serraph105: holy hell...I watched the full meeting.

That lady talking to him is my hero "...you're going to build the border wall out of the corpses of people you denied healthcare to"

Yeah, yeah they are :( Just like the Chinese did with their wall and their people that died. The Chinese, who will own us soon enough.

I believe in a safety net and that safety net is the unemployment program. 6-12 months is plenty of time for a person to find another job. If they haven't by then **** em. No welfare, no food stamps, and certainly no free healthcare for doing nothing but taking up space. I am absolutely fine with helping out the working poor but able bodied adults who do nothing deserve nothing.

Oh, you don't want people making $7 a dollar? Well, it's your fault! The neverending wave of mass immigration from undeveloped countries, both legal and illegal, is what enables the wage stagnation that has plagued this country for a few decades now. Companies never have to increase wages when there are 2 million people from poor nations pouring in every year willing to be little paid slaves. Prior to the floodgates being opened up in the 1960s to 3rd world immigration this country had several decades where there was no immigration coming in whatsoever. Not from Europe, not from anywhere, it had been frozen. And y'know what happened during that period? Wage explosion which led to the strongest middle class in the history of mankind! But all that got torn apart once the idiot hippie generation came along and pissed on everything that works. And do the left ever learn from their mistakes? Hell no! It's always let's double down! Let's virtue signal some more, let's bleed from our hearts some more, let's ignore reality and go with what sounds poetic instead some more. So here I am presented by a leftist complaining about $7 an hour and I am betting he/she celebrates the very unskilled mass immigration that directly causes it! You don't want slave labor wages? Support a halt on immigration then. We certainly don't need it when 95 million working age Americans are out of the workforce. Were it to stop wages would start rising immediately.

If you're rich then why the hell should other people pay for your healthcare? I wasn't saying nobody should have health insurance, lol. It's about whether or not working people should be forced to provide healthcare to lazy do-nothings.

I doubt that's true, the republic survived hundreds of years before Obamacare after all. It ain't just about economics anyway. Giveaways do significant social harm to the country. It erodes the culture. When a friend is fucking up their life do you slap em on the back and congratulate them for it? Irresponsibility should not be rewarded. When you reward it you encourage more of the same. Tough love works. Take away the freebies, remove the soft bigotry of low expectations which destroys lives rather than helps them, and eventually that person is gonna be forced to confront their own shortcomings and get it together. And their lives will have been made better for it.

If there was any doubt you are an idiot, you removed it. You showcased clear racism by calling immigrants poor and uneducated and that less western equals bad. Not to mention nothing you said is true and shows you have no idea how Europe actually works. If you really think nobody has to work in a socialist system, then you need to read a book.

FYI, I am not a SJW you troll. I am a a socialist, but those people do not speak for all of us.

Typical. If you can't make an argument, yell "Venezuela" and retreat to your safe space. I don't expect much from people like you.

How's rest of the modern world doing with universal healthcare? Oh yeah, pretty good so you can shove it with the whole, "work hard and you'll reap the rewards," especially since countries such as Norway, Sweden, Germany, Finland and more are doing just fine as well as being just as productive or even more so. Yes, no country is perfect but if universal healthcare can lower costs while creating a healthier public, it makes sense to pursue it to better the lives of all Americans instead of sticking to an old and outdated ideology.

Americans are working hard but can't afford healthcare due to rising costs from healthcare as well as other expenses that include housing, education and so on. Blaming those on welfare makes no sense and even then, why does it bother you? There's always going to be the potential for abuse in any system, from private corporations to government. It's a fact of life. You can minimize it but you'll never get rid of it.

If people like you were willing to stop welfare and out-of-control spending, go after those who reap tax credits and tax funding who don't even deserve it, from large corporations receiving bailouts to sports teams receiving all the tax funding for their stadiums while holding the city hostage so they can stay. Otherwise, just stop. You've already been rekted by Kod. At this point, I'm just laughing how idiotic your posts are.

Also typical that you feel the failure in Venezuela is irrelevant. You guys always do. Ain't like Venezuela is the only failed socialist experiment I could name. Plenty of em. But history is to be ignored. Those people obviously were not as smart. We'll be the ones to do it right! That's what y'all always think, lol. As far as Sweden goes that's starting to crumble now. Socialism never attains long term success but I will concede Sweden was avoiding the inevitable collapse longer than usual, partially because they never really embraced socialism completely, more of a hybrid job. But the cracks are appearing now.

As far as the rest of your reply goes, which I only skimmed, who are you talking to? It appears you want to launch into a broad discussion about government health care but the point I was making was actually a narrow one, about one particular group of people. That group being the sorts that sit on the couch all day smoking weed and watching TV and then get up the next day and rinse/repeat. And then go thinking the world owes them something. That's why I ignored EliminatorPaige when he started going on about someone working all their life and being a veteran and blah blah. Had nothing to do with anything I had said. No, I was talking specifically about working age refuse-to-take-responsibility-for-themselves types. I've known a few (And their numbers are increasing) and other people should not be expected to carry their load. Let em starve.

Did I suggest that the failure in Venezuela is irrelevant? There are other factors that lead to the success and failures of any country. Since I assume you're just some uneducated hack, it's important to note that Venezuela's political and judicial system are corrupt, as well as relying too much on a single resource for revenue, which will spell doom for any country, capitalistic or socialist. Venezuela isn't entirely socialist. It's a mixed economy. It's a failed state because of poor governance and an economy too reliant on oil. Blaming it entirely on socialism is like blaming capitalism for Russia's corrupt political and economic state, while ignoring the capitalistic and socialist successes, from the United States to Sweden, which btw are all mixed economies. Too many factors play into the success and failures of a country.

Also Sweden is starting to crumble? lulz.

And your last paragraph. Really? You think people who want affordable healthcare and education are lazy bums and that the world owes them? College was a luxury in the past and was affordable due to it being subsidized by state governments, until college became a necessity due to the demands of the previous generation. Yet the previous generation defunded subsidization of colleges and defunded primary schooling in the name of "fiscal responsibility." Who's the entitled generation? Today's generation who's working more, getting paid less (or none at all), while paying bills up the ying yang? Or is the previous generation that had it easier but pursued policies that diminished the roles of workers while demanding that they work overtime for little to no pay while telling them to get a degree to work a shit job?

Give me a break. You live in a community of people that have wants and needs. If your house burns down, you don't pay $10,000 to the fire department to put it out and for the Red Cross (or another organization) to care for you. We don't say to you to go F*** yourself and starve because we're not a bunch of callous people (i.e. libertarians). That's the point of living in a civilized country. If something is necessary for the stability and improvement of society, then it is necessary to have it. If you want a society that refuses to care for itself, go to Somalia.

Sweden will not exist in any way that is recognizable within 3 decades. Can I prove it? Of course not. But it will happen. Its once lauded educational system is a shell of its former self, it's the rape capital of the western world, etc.

As far as previous generations fucking things up ... no shit! I already mentioned that. Started with the drum circle types in the late 1960s (The birth of liberalism in America) and has been getting increasingly loonier ever since. From $0 national debt pre-hippie to 20 trillion and counting post-hippie. Great job.

Government's only responsibility is to protect its citizens. Not to hold their hands through life and micro manage every damned thing. The viewpoint I espouse is the way it was done for centuries. But you're acting as though cradle to grave pampering is what America and western civilization has always been about. That has a history that stretches back only decades and it's when the nation started going broke.

I don't need to go to Somalia. It's coming here.

Honestly maybe we should start requiring some form of test for those who wish to run for political office. Why the hell are uneducated, ignorant fools in office?

Nonetheless healthcare is NOT a luxury.

The GOP doesn't want to expand coverage to people. They simply want people to die so they don't have to pay for it (short term costs). The argument that 'no one dies due to a lack of coverage' is so easily and blatantly disprovable that I'm surprised this asshole just didn't turn around and walk out.

Providing health care to people is the moral thing to do, and if you're a sociopath that can't be persuaded then look at the numbers which provide great evidence that a healthy population provides greater economic output and does better in the long run. There is NO justifiable answer for telling people to die since it's morally egregious and costly.

Sigh, ain't about skin color, about culture. I would vote for Allen West or Larry Elder today if they were running for something here. But y'all never get it, always reduce things to oversimplified, juvenile terms. Only problems I got with immigration from just about anywhere (Aside from the way they vote) is their lack of self respect for themselves ... demand a decent damned wage for yourselves! When they agree to work for nothing it hurts everyone. The one exception is Muslims. Islam is not compatible with western culture / liberal ideals. Go ahead and pretend otherwise. Y'all are gonna find out, or your children will anyway. In Europe anyway as we don't have nearly the kind of percentages of Muslims as they're foolishly bringing in.

Conservative Islam is highly incompatible with the Religious Conservatism you find in America***

It's also not compatible with Liberal America, but the Liberal part of America aren't exactly the most responsible for fanning the flames of Islam extremism. And Liberalism is the only way we'll ever "fix" what's wrong with Radical Islam. Making it possible for everyone to integrate with a lot less trouble.

And that's exactly why we'd be a lot better off if things like the Iranian Revolution had never happened. Extreme Conservatism results in Reactionary behavior. This is why the Religious Right Wingers are so scared of "sharia law" while they simultaneously push a Christian equivalent.

Liberalism Religious Conservatism is a mental disorder. And Radical Islam & the American Religious right are proof of it.

Yeah, I won't defend Islam since I find it (along with all religion) to be complete nonsense. Additionally I would also agree that conservative views on Islam are also a threat to society, however that doesn't mean walling off society and spouting anti immigration nonsense is the answer. People are always conflating being anti-Islam with anti-Muslim.

Instead of finding a more pragmatic solution to the situation it's always the simpletons that keep repeating the same fear mongering. Pretending that hordes of barbarians are threatening to overrun society...yadda yadda yadda.... we've seen this exact same rhetoric every time a new group of people start entering society.

PS: Allen West is a turd sandwich and we're better off that he got ousted.

60% of full time workers make 30k or less in America. Thats not their fault.

40% of jobs in America are now retail/fast food bullshit jobs. That is not their fault.

I want to continue and address the immigration thing, the wage increase thing, the extremely moronic "no immigrants before 60s floodgates" thing, etc. But as i said before, its astounding how out of touch you are on these topics and im not going to spend more time explaining where you go wrong wheny oure just going to continue to spout bullshit.

Actually i take that back, im going to do a bit of ranting and raving and hopefully youll pay attention.

1. America's job situation has not even remotely been caused by immigration. Its been due to the loss of manufacturing jobs, then the loss of telecommunications jobs, etc. etc. etc. The wonderful Trump btw, is going to cause us to lose what little science jobs we have. So weve shrank a fully capable working class to nothing. To retail and fast food. Which is fine, BUT, those industries also have to be competitive with wages. They have to provide proper amounts and none of them do. If this is going to be the industry for the majority of Americans, then it needs to compete and have livable wages, PERIOD.

2. This time period you want to cite was a time period of MASS immigration to America.. i have no idea where you get this complete utter bullshit of "no immigration" (my German grandmother escaped to America in 1941 and of course you have to be the dumbest person in the room to not know about the mass immigration periods for the Irish, Italians, Germans, Russian, SE Asians, etc. during this time). But more importantly, it was the time of the new deal. When America decided that it was going to base its economy around the middle class and make them the average consumer. By propping up the middle class, ensuring livable wages (Which is what min. wage was applied as), ensuring workers rights, proper taxation of corporations, implementing social services, basically every single thing you stand against, is how we created the largest economy the world has ever seen.

Ug. See, this is what happened before. I wanted to respond, just as now i want to respond some more, but as i read your post a second time i find your comments to be unbelievably stupid and to have next to zero facts in them. That i dont even know where to start or how to explain to someone that they seem to have every little piece of the puzzle wrong.

Actually there is one question i have... what makes you think immigrants are unskilled? Who makes up a very large percentage of our medical industry right now? Stop masking your racism and bigotry (and no, i dont say those things lightly or just toss them around, youve proven yourself to be this) with some fake, completely uneducated concern for the American economy. Im sorry, but your degree of ignorance on these subjects is sickening and if you want to talk about the downfall of society, look in the mirror because its really uneducated people like yourself who spout lies and bullshit.

Tell me more about how people intentionally make themselves sick. It's really winning me over.

Well is America the greatest country on earth or not then? All other first world countries have superior health care systems.

This is the biggest load of crap I've ever read.

You should tell that to someone who has a pre-existing condition and is merely surviving thanks to Obamacare/Medicare/Medicaid and report back. Tell them they'll simply be "made better" if someone comes and takes away their only avenue for survival. It's quite obvious you or anyone close to you has never had any hardships in terms of healthcare and healthcare expenses otherwise you wouldn't be thinking this way. Some perspective goes a long way.

@n64dd: I'm just glad the GOP is finally being honest. Now that the veneer of covering everyone for less with better healthcare has been shown to be blatantly false, they're flat out saying that poor people shouldn't have healthcare.

It's refreshing in a way. At least now it's clear where they truly stand.
