What was meant to be a heartwarming tribute to President George H. W. Bush on The View Monday ended in an ugly shouting match between Meghan McCain and Joy Behar after the discussion at the table turned political.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg was forced to cut to commercial break after viewers saw the two hosts go at it during a heated exchange - which later escalated off air, a show insider told DailyMail.com.

The episode kicked off with a Hot Topics segment intended to honor the late 41st president, who died on Friday, with the co-hosts taking turns to speak on his legacy.

But just a few minutes in, the conversation went south when Behar threw Trump's name into the mix while commending Bush's support for environmental issues.

'I want to say one thing about him that was not picked up really, because as a candidate he said, "Those who think we're powerless to do anything about the greenhouse effect, are forgetting about the White House effect," then he signed into law the Clean Air Act amendment of 1990, one of the most sweeping environmental statutes ever,' she said.

'This president that we have now is trying to unravel everything that he did and Obama did, and if I ever become a one-issue voter it will be about pollution and the greenhouse effect -' she said before being interrupted.

'Can we focus on the president, please. I don't want to talk about Trump, we're honoring a great president,' McCain interjected.

Behar shot back: 'Excuse me a second, please. I want to talk about - ' before McCain cut her off again saying: 'We're honoring a great president who passed and I'm not interested in your one-issue voting.'

Behar fired back: 'I don't care what you're interested in. I'm talking!'

McCain countered: 'Well I don't care what you're interested in either, Joy!' before Whoopi quickly called for a commercial break.

Behar was then seen slamming her cue cards on the table and turning to sound off on McCain just as producers cut to break. Producers muted Behar's microphone so that her expletives would not be heard on air.

But the source told DailyMail.com that Behar threw her hands in the air, yelled 'My God!' and 'Get this b***h under control.'

'If this s**t doesn't stop I'm quitting this damn show. I can't take this much more,' Behar allegedly fumed.

Producers ran to the stage in an attempt to deescalate the situation, but Behar continued to rant, the source said.

'I've tolerated a lot of s**t on this show but I'm at my wits' end with this entitled b***h. Enough already! Enough already! I'm not playing nice any longer,' Behar shouted, despite the studio audience being able to hear it all.

I don't doubt this being true. Those two seem to hate each other

well to be fair, fate of humanities existence on this planet might be one of those topics in which civil discourse is not more important than the subject matter in question

I'm gonna go ahead and take McCain's side on this. I don't ever watch The View, but if they were there to honor a recently dead president then letting it devolve into criticise the current president doesn't seem to be the thing to do, much less getting upset (and pissed for no real reason) when McCain tried to bring the discussion back around to the person they're supposed to be discussing.

Besides, I'm sure Trump gets plenty of discussion every day on that show, why not let this segment be what it was originally supposed to be about?

I can agree with that but it seems a bit hypocritical after taking a swipe at Trump at her own fathers funeral.

.....maybe? I don't know. Probably does, but it wasn't McCain that lost her shit on this one so it's hard for me to see the person who wasn't really instigator (in this case), and was generally more composed, as the person who was in the wrong.

Again, I don't give a shit about The View or the people on it (Although I do like Whoopie from a few movies) so at the end of the day this doesn't really matter to me, and I don't tend to have strong feelings on anyone there because of my lack of knowledge about any of them. That's what makes me think, "But what does it really matter if she is being hypocritical?" because I don't really care about any of them.

McCain probably is an entitled bitch, but Behar is a diva with what appears to be bombastic speech rivaled only by *gulp* Trump. It's a shame they can't get any women of actual integrity on that show, but then again that's probably not why people watch it.

I'm sure their ratings will go up as a result. What a disgrace to their sex and humanity.

I watch the show pretty regularly, and although I agree with Meghan about what they were talking about, Meghan has been really rude since being on the show.

She regularly rolls her eyes and scoffs when other people voice their opinion, and just last week after Whoopi said something and the audience applauded, Meghan rolled her eyes and yelled at the audience and said something like "Yeah yeah enough with the "applause" signal".

Interrupting someone and snarkily saying "I'm not interested in what you're saying" on a discussion show would irritate me too.

I like Meghan McCain, but she comes across as awfully bitter and angry on The View.

I wish there was a video of this I can't stand that trust fund baby Meghan born with a silver spoon in her mouth and a fork up her ass. It's funny how triggered she gets everytime they start talking about Trump it because but... Obama.. but Hillary... she's so predicable she should just go back to Fox "news".

If you're trying to insinuate McCain is a fan of Trump, you're wrong. Like another person already mentioned, she's being a hypocrite in this situation when she threw shade at Trump while the program was honoring her father's death.

I don't watch the show that much but from what I see she still gets pretty triggered about Trump and yes she only threw shade at him when he talked bad about her Dad now it seems like she's back in the cult.

Bush, Sr. was incredibly critical of Trump including making a public statement that he voted for clinton. Not sure what Behar is doing.
