I really like this video, because it's true, most of the technology we use everyday, was created by the government, NOT private companies, which only make money off the innovation and ingenuity of tax funded government entities. He talks about many things in this video, it's very informative.

Yeah, but idiot libertarians and conservatives like to tout capitalism as being the creator of life itself. It is not. It largely only mass produces products created by government, and makes money of said products. Libertarians also like to claim that money is the driving force of invention, and innovation, again, it is not, passion, and the desire to make life better for people is the driving force, and money is sometimes a bonus, because a lot of inventions, the creators never made a cent off of. Why do you think people who invent things for the soul purpose of making money, are always complete garbage?

Isn't a lot of the base research / science for medical science done by government/government funded and later capitalized by private as well?

I know that the principles behind MRI(and the tech to some degree) were discovered many years before anyone thought about using it for a MRI scan.

Invention itself isn't the biggest contributing factor in making that invention widely available. NASA may have invented a lot of tech, but for decades you could only find that tech at NASA, or other government entities. It wasn't until Gates and Jobs began to capitalize on the market when it became widely available, and began to advance. You have more computing in your phone than the entirety of NASA had in the 1970's, and that's due to the free market.

When prices are determined by what people are willing to pay, you get productivity. When they are determined by central planning, you get woeful inefficiency

The problem is people always look at this system as all or nothing. Most successful countries employ some element of capitalistic economies, but also have smart and robust regulation and social programs. Completely unregulated markets would be a disaster as would be the proven shitstorm of communism.

@AlexKidd5000: Wait, so if I'm reading your post correctly, you're saying that the government is responsible for inventing most technology we use, past and present?

DID ANYONE IN THIS THREAD READ THE OP??????????

so called 'private industry' is subsidized by the government.

really like this video, because it's true, most of the technology we use everyday, was created by the government, NOT private companies,

private companies get the benefit of publicly funded research.

Not entirely true.

Connected private companies get subsidized by the government. Your average business owner helps pay for those subsidies.

The elites don't want free market capitalism. They want the odds slanted in their favour.
