In order to do much of anything in NYC you must now have proof of your pokes as well as a valid ID. This goes from bars to cafes, from movie theaters to gyms... and even grocery stores with inside dining options; all those Starbucks are now a hindrance to many.

Those with various medical conditions making them ineligible for the vaccine are no longer welcome in NYC as there are NO medical exceptions in this fascist take over of the Big Apple.

Discrimination of people based on medical conditions they can't help is no better than discrimination against those based on race, religion, or gender. Oh, and wasn't mandatory ID's being called racist just last month by these same hypocrites? 🤔

Pathetic and Disgusting both come to mind when I think of those implementing these policies.

Talk about overreacting. Werent people on your end praising these actions just last month? Good lord. 🙄

And i applaud NYC for actually caring about its peoples health, better than that if they die they die we get from Republicans.

@Telekill: They'd be protected by herd immunity if we didn't have 30 percent of the people refusing to take it because of tracking chips or nanobots or "it's my right to infect others" or God knows what else they've concocted.

@mattbbpl: You completely miss the point as per usual. Flies way over your head. No. I'm not talking about herd immunity. They can't participate in anything in NYC. They can't be can't be vaccinated and therefore are discriminated against because of their preexisting condition. People like you give them the middle finger. But that's no surprise.

As a "both sides"(!) kinda guy, I can't help but ask if you're able to provide data about this percentage of the population who absolutely can't get vaccinated due to medical conditions, even if they wanted to. This is likely a very teeny tiny percentage of the overall population, and although I doubt they'd be turned away in the event they were able to provide valid documentation of their condition, at the very worst they can open an app and order to pickup their groceries. No need to cry about "discrimination" because they have to pickup their groceries and can't go out to bars due to a medical condition that most of the population doesn't have to deal with.

Meanwhile I will go back to wearing a mask at work because I cant control you fools who insist on propagating this coronavirus. I'll try to do what I need to do since I have asthma and still might get fucked if I get it, even tho I am vaccinated.

All good. Carry the **** on, if you must.

Pretty sure exceptions can be made for people with who cannot be vaccinated for whatever reason.

You have a right to be free from discrimination or harassment. If you believe you have been discriminated against because of who you are, including your race, national origin or disability, contact the NYC Commission on Human Rights.

As for the people who refuse to be vaccinated? How about they start using some of that personal responsibility they claim to love so much? Actually practice what you preach.

Easy solution.

If you actually cared about those who cannot be vaccinated, you would have vaccinated yourselves to begin with. So precautions like this wouldnt have been necessary in the first place.

You are such a god damned drama queen. It's not even that entertaining any more.

Sorry not sorry, but people that are a risk to the responsible public shouldn't be allowed to go to movies, gyms, and other venues.

It's not fascism, it's common sense. Fascism would be rounding them up and force-vaccinating them, by the way, in case it wasn't clear to you what fascism would actually be.

FFS just get vaccinated. Obviously I feel sorry for people with medical conditions that can't get a vaccine, but honestly who exactly would that be? And what's the odds?

Not like any of those things are critical, either. It's indoor dining, entertainment, and fitness centers. Boo fracking hoo.

Multiple Sclerosis?

While data thus far is limited, mRNA vaccines seem to be safe thus far. And even has been recommended as long as they have not been in a relapse recently (2 weeks).

Almost 70% of Doctors Say Covid-19 Vaccine Rates Would Be Higher If They Could Administer to Their Own Patients, New Survey Shows | BioPharma Dive

AMA survey shows over 96% of doctors fully vaccinated against COVID-19 | American Medical Association (ama-assn.org)

Anyway, I see most medical experts recommend the vaccine. Unless you have a specific health issue with it, which should be rare.

I do agree that people should consult their own doctor, as they will know what is best for them. However, any information I found implies that due to the nature of these mRNA vaccines, they wont trigger a relapse or anything of the sort. As long as it done under certain conditions,

https://www.nationalmssociety.org/coronavirus-covid-19-information/multiple-sclerosis-and-coronavirus/covid-19-vaccine-guidance

People with MS should be vaccinated against COVID-19

The science has shown us that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Like other medical decisions, the decision to get a vaccine is best made in partnership with your healthcare provider. Most people with relapsing and progressive forms of MS should be vaccinated. The risks of COVID-19 outweigh any potential risks from the vaccine. In addition, members of the same household and close contacts should also be vaccinated against COVID-19 when available to decrease the impact of the virus.
People with progressive MS, those who are older, those who have a higher level of physical disability, those with certain medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, heart and lung disease, pregnancy), and Black and Hispanic populations are among groups with the highest risk for hospitalization due to COVID-19. Individuals in these high-risk groups are especially encouraged to get vaccinated.
The mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer BioNTech and Moderna) require two doses and you need to get both doses to be maximally protected. The vector vaccine (J&J) requires a single dose. Whether you receive the Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna or J&J vaccine, it takes two weeks after being fully vaccinated before you are considered protected.
If you’ve had COVID-19 and recovered, you should also get the vaccine. We don’t know how well protected people are after COVID-19 infection, or how long this protection might last. People who have had COVID-19 infection in the past can get infected again.

you're going to have to provide some evidence on this one.

the small bit of looking i did indicated that the vaccine is generally considered safe for patients with MS.

https://www.pacificneuroscienceinstitute.org/blog/multiple-sclerosis/multiple-sclerosis-and-covid-19-vaccines/

Vaccine safety for Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

The National MS Society (NMSS) has assembled a panel of experts to review the existing data and they have formulated general recommendations about persons with Multiple Sclerosis and the COVID-19 vaccines. All three currently approved COVID vaccine preparations are thought to be safe and effective for persons with MS, and persons with MS should be vaccinated when the vaccine is available to them.

However, those who have had a severe allergic reaction to a vaccine in the past are advised to consult first with their primary care physician. To date, there is no evidence that the COVID-19 vaccine will cause an MS relapse. However, if a person with MS develops a fever after vaccination, which can sometimes happen after any vaccination, they may experience a pseudoexacerbation, or temporary increase in symptoms that subsides when the fever is treated.

When covid was first breaking out I read an article by a Russian doctor/scientist. He purposely got infected by visiting sick people primarily to test the symptoms and his body’s reaction.

It took roughly two weeks for his body to pass the infection. Afterwards he went near infected people again assuming his body had antibodies.

He was infected again.

He stated herd immunity will never be possible nor would a vaccine. You would require constant booster shots that change to adapt with variations.

@Skarwolf: Again, degrees. Breakthrough infections are possible. Vaccines are more effective than contracting the illness. Additional boosters provide additional protection (which is why the most effective vaccines employ a two dose regimen).

The vaccines with near universal adoption (the specific percentage of adoption required depends on the R0 value of the virus) and regular boosters in order to re-upp waning effects effectively provide herd immunity (which doesn't require every individual to have 100 percent protection to achieve).
