...such as

“vulnerable”

“entitlement”

“diversity”

“transgender”

“fetus”

“evidence-based”

“science-based”

This currently applies to documents concerning next year’s budget, for now, but the gag order is likely going to be applied to other aspects of the Cdc’s Normal operations as well.

I think those CDC folk are smart enough to know what a thesaurus is. Trump probably isn't.

The whole story is as yet unverified, but going by what is alluded to by some media outlets, this is what was proposed:

1.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were told not to use seven specific words and phrases in its federal budget-proposal documents.

2. Materials with the words, "vulnerable" "entitlement" and "diversity" were returned to the agency for "correction" according to a senior staffer at the CDC's Office of Financial Services. These words are socio-political.

3. Bans on the words and phrases "transgender" "fetus," "evidence-based" and "science-based" were communicated "verbally" according to the staffer.

In addition, any word — this again applied in principle to every word in the language — could be negatived by adding the affix un-, or could be strengthened by the affix plus-, or, for still greater emphasis, doubleplus-. Thus, for example, uncold meant ‘warm’, while pluscold and doublepluscold meant, respectively, ‘very cold’ and ‘superlatively cold’. It was also possible, as in present-day English, to modify the meaning of almost any word by prepositional affixes such as ante-, post-, up-, down-, etc. By such methods it was found possible to bring about an enormous diminution of vocabulary. Given, for instance, the word good, there was no need for such a word as bad, since the required meaning was equally well — indeed, better — expressed by ungood. All that was necessary, in any case where two words formed a natural pair of opposites, was to decide which of them to suppress. Dark, for example, could be replaced by unlight, or light by undark, according to preference.

Newspeek is doubleplus-good. Thanks to our plus-good president for getting it going in America. Too many words have made us so PC that we get un-lots done.

You've clearly been inundated with Oldspeak, but I guarentee that you'll come to plus-enjoy Newspeak.

Our vocabulary will be the only one in the world that will get smaller over time, this will prevent the possibility of thought-crime.

It's as if Trump doesn't want men to become women in the CDC or vice-versa. The alternative could be "men-turned-women" or "women-turned-men", huh?

I surprised there are still competent people working in the government at all.

I'd have given up by now; not because I'm a quitter, but when you can't do the job the right way, what's the point?

Tis the trend, and has been. Heresy, and blasphemy are the oldest forms of political correctness, and carried far harsher consequences.

In my experience it is those that complain about political correctness are the first to limit what you can say, how you can say it, when, where, and whilst having a demand for the respect of their make-beliefs.

When you have two competing oppressive states, they will always war in this way. One will cry blasphemy, the other will cry political correctness and at the end of the day, its really the same thing.

to be fair, trump's vocabulary consists of what, 50 words?

he probably doesn't want to get confused reading reports from the CDC.

so you would disagree that those words should be banned?

Honestly this is a good thing. CDC shouldn't be political.
