WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trump says testing may be 'frankly overrated'

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/497846-trump-says-testing-may-be-frankly-overrated

"We have the best testing in the world," Trump told employees at Owens & Minor Inc. in Allentown. “Could be that testing’s, frankly, overrated. Maybe it is overrated."

“But we have the greatest testing in the world,” he added. “But what we want is we want to get rid of this thing. That’s what we want."

I can't even............

Does trump think that if the US does no tests that people will forget about covid?

Some states have already stopped reporting covid deaths.

Then he should stop getting his daily testing and stop testing those in the White House. Hypocritical liar that doesn't give a damn about anything but his bank account and his base eats it up.

Well US would have had very few confirmed cases if there was little to no testing.

The covid crisis has made it painfully apparent how damaging it can be when Trump speaks.

I wish he would shut the **** up.

Testing is possibly the most important thing that needs to be done. I can't believe how f*cking dumb he is and that 30% of our electorate actually believes this stuff.

The greatest sin the Democrats appear to have committed during the last round of stimulus debates is the assumption that the administration would use the time those and the lockdown efforts bought to ramp up a response to the virus itself.

We're either going to end up opening early without test and trace in place resulting in needless additional deaths, or we're going to be locked down until an effective vaccine or treatment is developed. I think the former is the far more likely scenario given political and economic pressures.

There's absolutely no way we'd continue a lock down until a vaccine is ready. Americans are simply going to die. He's already prepping the blame to be cast at the state and local level. Remember people bringing up the 12k deaths for Obama due to H1N1 in 2009? You can hear the shifting of those goal posts a mile away.

also, once the campaigns really start ramping up, just wait to see the MASSIVE amount of revisionist history that will be coming out of trump's pie-hole.

Already started, dude. Apparently Obama's game plan and pandemics notes never existed.

Numbers can't go up if we stop testing. It's really in the best interest of the country if we just stop testing altogether.

Almost like a president's words have consequences thanks to both the job and national platform. Almost like people in positions of power, like congress, like the president, should be mindful about what they say to the public. Almost like political correctness serves an actual purpose and isn't fascism.

Do you mean political correctness as in not serving 18K lies in a 3 years period, pandering conspiracy theories etc? Or that you can’t call out minorities on shitty behaviour?

People will read it differently...

Frankly his opinions are irrelevant when it comes to medical issues ever since he asked if people could consume bleach to combat the virus.

To play Devil's Advocate for a second...

...he might be right, sort of. Given that most tests provide false results and there are too few legitimately good tests available, he might actually be correct in saying they are "overrated".

Though he probably could have phrased it differently, i.e. "testing is important but as of right now the options are limited, so I would be hesitant to trust any and all tests out there".
