Trump suggests 'injection' of disinfectant to beat coronavirus and 'clean' the lungs

Maryland's Governor Larry Hogan, a Republican, commented on Sunday of "a wrong message" being sent following President Donald Trump's controversial remarks about disinfectants and the coronavirus last week--pointing out that his state had received "hundred of calls" from residents wondering if it was safe to ingest cleaning products.

During a Thursday press conference, Trump questioned whether it would be possible to inject disinfectants into the human body to combat the novel coronavirus. Health experts and companies making cleaning products--as well as many elected officials--quickly warned the public against attempting to inject or ingest disinfectants, as such actions could lead to serious illness and possible death.

The president later claimed the remark was "sarcastic" and has since shared advice via Twitter from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that warned against using disinfectants in such a manner. But Hogan took issue with the remarks in an interview with ABC's This Week on Sunday.

Whether or not Trump was brainstorming, there are a *lot* of uneducated people in the USA that will believe everything Trump says.

Surely he must realise that his comments are going to cause his die-hard supporters to ingest disinfectant?

Meanwhile, Trump's tantrum over this is equal parts hilarious and worrisome.

He has stopped doing press conferences, and has instead taken to attacking the media. He repeatedly lashes out at the "lamestream media", in a clear demonstration of his towering intellect.

This would all be good viewing if his people weren't literally dying because of his terrible decision making.

I think if the media didn't react the way they did and cover this mistake so hard, people would have died or got injured.

Just goes to show out narrow minded Trump is to not have foreseen the consequences of his televised stupidity. When will he realise that many of his supporters have the collective IQ of a snail?

Has he ever before he became President faced backlash for something said on TV?
