Funny, but what is not considered in the "shitter" above 45%, 50% 60% 70%?

At the very least a point in the history of the President where more than half the country approves of them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_approval_rating#Historical_comparison

Trumps highest approval rating of 45% is still lower than Obama's average approval rating of 47.9%. If anything, this just goes to show how shit American elections are. Any moronic, knuckle-dragging mouth-breather can get elected.

Well, sure we can agree that 50% is considered an ok approval rating, we live in a democracy.

And yes Obama´s avg rating of 47.9% over his two terms is higher than trumps current and also his rating when he got elected, but still, Obama did not on average get a majority to actually approve of him. So if we apply those standards to it, sure Trumps is not good but they are not in the "shitter" and also Obama´s is also not good if we look at someone like Kennedy who had a 70% or Bush sr who had a 60.9% or Clinton´s at 55.1%

So Trump´s being bad is all depending on the eye of the beholder. For Trump it´s an average rating, for any other it´s a bad rating.

So suddenly comparing Trump's rating to anybody but him isn't allowed?

Who said anything about "not allowed"? But do you disagree that how Trump's approval rating is perceived is depending on who and what it´s being compared to?

Also, do you care that Trump has the highest approval rating among Republicans as to Republican presidents? And that his approval rating among Democrats is at the same low level as Obama´s was with Republicans.

Well, trump hasn't done a single god damn thing right that helps the country, or anyone other then his rich buddies, so yeah, 36% is still too high for such a terrible failure.

Yes, Trump fails to unite because the iliberals refuse to consider any other argument then their own. Anything else cannot be accepted and have to be silenced.

And if you think Trump fails to unite, just wait until 2020 and after the next democratic president.

Wow, that denial must hurt your brain. All the way back to Roosevelt, no President has had such an abysmally low approval rating. The second lowest average approval rating, next to Trump, is Truman at 45.4% (6.3% higher than Trump's average). Trump's HIGHEST approval rating is 45%. His Presidency is a complete and utter joke to the history of America.

The only Presidents with higher "Highest Disapproval" were GW Bush (71%), Truman (67%) and Nixon (66%). And I'm pretty sure we know why all three had such high levels of disapproval. Bush for the Iraq War and handling of the 9/11 situation. Truman for having to assume the mantle of President and recover from World War II and Nixon for his massive Watergate scandal. And all three of them had less than 50% average approval rating.

Trump is an awful President and is going to ruin the United States.

I think 40% is bad because it is bad. Historically and statistically. It's below most other presidents in modern history, and falls within the bottom 1/5th percentile. This isn't rocket science.

What do I think is good? Something above the average mark for most presidents. Something that isn't the lowest average?

Or could it be because Trump acts like a child? A lot would be done if someone restricted his Twitter access... He has a great(difficult most likely) opportunity with North Korea and do something that probably a lot of people will like him for.

I don't expect the next president to have it any easier to unite the country.

Well, the twitter rampages do not help

And yes future presidents will not have it easier with the radical left movement, hopefully, though there will be a moderate central movement who will drown out the radicals.

Mental gymnastics as to what?

Also hopefully, you do know that what you or anyone else think about the rating is pretty irrelevant and his chances of getting elected again in 2020 are above 60%.

Btw, Trump's approval among independents is low too.

What am I reading here.

Trump's approval rating is one of the lowest of all time, historically. A lot less people like him than how many Americans liked other Presidents at the same point.

This isn't rocket science. You'r spinning very hard.

He's low among independents too. I know for his first year it was actually a historic low among independents.

Haha, cater to the "Centrists" and lose yet again! Americans are overwhelmingly left, and if fighting for workers rights, and making healthcare a right is "radical" to you, then you can move to a country that suits you more, like north korea.

Again you bring up the radical left as the problem. The radical right, alternativ right or whatever you call yourself these days is just as big problem, if not bigger, as the radical left.

Immigration is always an easy issue to bring up. Easy to point at solutions. It isn't complicated like healthcare, at least not at first glance. It doesn't hurt the rich the same way initiating global tax deal to avoid companies not doing their share of the civil duty.

What radical left movement? There is no radical left movement in the U.S. You've never seen a radical left movement before in your life.

Unite? You really think we want to unite? After eight years of your side spewing unadulterated bile at a dignified and respectable president for no damn good reason whatsoever? After having to endure this goddamned dumpster fire of a presidency and hearing you make excuses for every single thing he does, including sexual assault? After your completely cynical and unprincipled tactic of refusing to even pretend to hold this president accountable for the same things you baselessly accused the last one of? After all the goddamned bile that's being spewed out on a daily basis-the anti-immigrant hate, the anti-Muslim hate, family separations, the white supremacy, anti-black rhetoric, and more? After all the gerrymandering and the theft of a Supreme Court seat? You really, honestly, think we want to unite with you? No, we want to put your movement down. We want to step on its goddamned throat and make sure it never gets the chance to take power again. We want to make sure this travesty of a period in American politics never happens again, is never inflicted on anyone else. You don't try to unite with a cancer, you cut it out.

File under: reasons why I'm so fed up with American conservatives. Reason 15976: They continue to move further and further to the right while accusing even moderate liberals of extremism, AND they keep getting away with it. Seriously, did the whole country just call a meeting to decide that conservatives were going to be held to lesser standards than liberals and I missed it somehow?

I can't disagree with you there. It's not even moderate liberals that they go after now. It's moderate republicans that get the right wing mob after them. No moderate republican can survive a primary.

@theone86: "File under: reasons why I'm so fed up with American conservatives. Reason 15976: They continue to move further and further to the right while accusing even moderate liberals of extremism, AND they keep getting away with it. Seriously, did the whole country just call a meeting to decide that conservatives were going to be held to lesser standards than liberals and I missed it somehow?"

Independents want to be Independents, but they can't be Independents if they admit to themselves there isn't parity between the parties. As the GOP veers to the right the Independents follow them so they can still claim to be Independents.

Well, the twitter rampages do not help

And yes future presidents will not have it easier with the radical left movement, hopefully, though there will be a moderate central movement who will drown out the radicals.

What radical left movement? There is no radical left movement in the U.S. You've never seen a radical left movement before in your life.

There is one if you go far enough on the right side.

MORONIC conservatives are now protesting willie nelson for supporting O'Rourke over Ted Cruz, and they say libtards are the ones who get triggered, and are reactionaries. American conservatives are the whiniest group of anti science, anti facts, anti intellectual, and anti empathetic people on the planet.

If you support Ted Cruz over O'Rourke, you're a boot licking conformist.

Yes, Trump fails to unite because the iliberals refuse to consider any other argument then their own. Anything else cannot be accepted and have to be silenced.

And if you think Trump fails to unite, just wait until 2020 and after the next democratic president.

Thanks for proving my point with the radical left.

I hope you have gotten ready for a lot more defeats.

So you're the radical? Gotcha!

If the republicans were honest to their constituents about what they really wanted to do with legislation (kill medicare, medicaid, and social security), every last one of them would be kicked the **** out of washington so fast, the entire party would go extinct.

No, since you think progressives are radical, that makes YOU the radical considering that progressive ideas are mainstream, so most people in america like them. So yeah, you're the radical for thinking perfectly sensible ideas are radical.

When did this happen now? She still going strong, and everyone loves her :)

Progressives are on the far left side, meaning it´s not mainstream. And no most people in America do not like them, why do you think "progressives" could only win in a district built on the core base in NY , also remember Sanders lost by a huge margin to Clinton.

And what happened, well the pipedream she had got blown out of the water on the cost and financing.

lol..

you are going to have a shock come this Nov.

by the way as a side note, Teddy Roosevelt was the godfather or progressiveness. (please pay attention to the word 'side note' which means not part of the main conversation worth getting into but something to point out..on the side so please do not engage in it)
