What do you guys think of the theory that zombie movies are prevalent during years in which republicans are in charge and vampire movies are prevalent during years when democrats are in charge and it's based on how we see each other.

The theory goes that democrats supposedly see republicans as mindless zombies who aren't at all focused on intricacy policies, but would rather shout mindless slogans and are afraid of the dumb people outnumbering the group who think for themselves.

Republicans on the other hand supposedly see democrats as vampires. A group of well to do people living in castles in sucking people or society dry while living in highly sexualized and/or perverse ways without considering the consequences of their actions.

I don't know how much stock I put in it personally, but it's interesting to think about different creatures getting at the baser instincts of fear for different types of people and how that fear manifests in society.

Are there any statistics supporting this hypothesis?

You know, I'm not really sure. It's not my theory so I'm not coming up with this idea out of the blue, but I thought it would be a slightly more fun discussion than the rest of the "current news" threads because it's around Halloween and it gets at the ways in which we use monsters beyond being scary creatures that need to die.

The vast majority of people in Hollywood identify as Democrat, so I doubt Republicans would have much of an influence on what movies come out regardless of who is in political power at the time.

Although during times Republicans are in charge, they may find themselves being parodied more, such as the numerous Trump references that have been in movies and TV shows over the past two years.

I doubt they have anything to do with politics. Probably cyclical. Hollywood does over due things and then swing another way.

Uhhh. The zombie craze took off during the Obama administration.

Vampires were at their most popular when Clinton was president, and the early busy years.

Pretty dumb topic

Overly romanticized. Not like 28 Days Later or whatever it is called again.

Where do werewolves fit in? Anarachists?
