I will try to keep the list as short as possible of the games that I played that I really liked:
Half-Life
Unreal
Quake II
Sin
Grim Fandango
Forsaken.
Moto Racer 2
Need For Speed III/II/I
Tomb Raider
Quake
Cybermage Dark Light Awakening
One Must Fall 2097
Raptor Call of Shadows
FX Fighter
Wacky Wheels
Rise of the Triad
Duke Nukem 3D
Jedi Knight
Of those the games I played and finished and played all they way through were Half-Life, Unreal, Quake II and Forsaken, FX Fighter, Raptor, Duke Nukem 3D, One Must Fall 2097 and I am trying to finish Sin and hope to buy the re-make of Grim Fandango. My favorite would have to be Half-Life, it was such a revolutionary game for it's time. Also, notice that many of those games came out in 1998, Half-Life, Unreal, Forsaken, Sin, Grim Fandango, Need For Speed III, Moto Racer 2. 1998 was quite possibly the greatest year in gaming in terms of the impact it had in the PC Gaming scene. I won't even go into the console world where there it too had revolutionary games that came out in 1998 like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or other PC Games that I haven't played that came out in 1998 like Thief. Other notable exception would be Quake II Mission Pack The Reckoning that came out in the summer of 1998 which I am playing through.
What surprises me is that I am still trying to play through and buy and finish playing games that came out in 1998! That's how good that year was.
