This is kinda gonna sound like one of those threads from a person with 3 total posts talking about selling something but I assure you that is not me.

Just saying that the classiq 2 HD is available. This seems to be the best option in terms of value/operation among the NES/SNES clones. However I have only based this on youtube reviews.

Has anyone here actually played it? If I don't win the thinkgeek lottery to purchase a SNES next week I will probably be purchasing one. I encourage others to do the same as it appears to be a quality product.

Not sure about all a retron does but this plays NTSC and PAL games. It comes with two controllers one NES style and one SNES style. They both have the dogbone shape unlike the retron 2 or 5. Also the classiq 2 is system on a chip solution unlike retron stuff. Also multi carts don't work on retron consoles. It will work on classiq 2 HD. Aspect ratio switch as well so it's either 4:3 or 16:9.

I have one on the way and can't wait to give it to my kid for Christmas.

I’ve had mine for about 2 months. It’s been my first clone console and ive been impressed with it so far. I’ve not used the retron 5 so I can’t compare the two but after playing my retro collection via composite video on a flatscreen for a few years, the classiq 2 is a game changer. The sound is not exactly the same as original hardware on a couple of games but it’s not completely off. Video quality is great imo. Don’t know how I played in composite video for so long. I have no issues with the controllers either. They feel and work great. Only thing I will say is to make sure you clean your games good with a q-tip before playing. I had issues with the console not reading games but a quick cleaning and all was good. For the price, you can’t beat it honestly.
