What is your favorite game on Commodore 64?
R-Type is a classic I remember going to a friends house to play, the only guy that had a comodore. Everyone else like me had a Spectrum zx. I do remember that at the time, possibly arround 1988 Comodore Amiga had the best graphics ever :) Good memories.
Tis' indeed.
Pretty much every port was good as well.
Whoever mentioned Skate or Die and Bard's Tale is my long lost twin, those were seriously my jam back in the day.
Honorable mentions: Alice in Wonderland (very much like a Lucas Arts adventure) and Little Computer People (think Sims, 2-d style).
@npiet1:
The Epyx Fast Load cartridge was the key to being able to enjoy C64 games.
I think mine crapped out once and I didn't even bother trying to play any non cartridge games until I got a new one.
Luckily, it was the only cart you had to buy as nearly all the other games were available on bulletin boards if you knew people with the phone numbers to the boards and could get to them and download (now THAT took a long time on a 2400 baud modem which was big new tech at the time).
My fave game is Gateway To Apshai. I even got it for my Colecovision, I loved it so much. Much better on the Commodore, though.
I think it was the first rogue type game ever. Idk for sure but it was great at the time. There may be a crowd funded remake being tossed around...it came up as a suggestion on Google when I looked it up, anyway.
