For the good or bad what are some games you liked or didn't like the first time you played them and completely changed your opinion of them later down the line?

At first I hated Resident Evil 2 when I played the N64 version while it was new because I couldn't get over the tank controls at the time. Some years went by though and I decided to give the series another shot with Code Veronica X on PS2 and it got me into the series. After going back and playing RE 1-3, 2 was even my favorite.

I loved Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story on the SNES as a kid as a big of fan of the movie(and Bruce Lee's films) and played it over and over. When I tried to play it a few years ago it just felt sloppily put together and I didn't play it for more than 10 minutes.

I loved Street Fighter II when I played it as a kid but I can't get into it now. I still play Alpha 3 and Third Strike but I can't force myself to play more than one match in Street Fighter II. It was the first fighting game I ever played and I appreciate the experience but I'm done with it.

I gotta say the first Metal Gear Solid. Was awesome back then but can't play it now, it's outdated as hell.

Where do you stand on Hyper Fighting and Super Turbo?

Primal Rage and the first Mortal Kombat were some of my favorite games when I was young and stupid.

Couldn't get in to Metroid (specifically Metroid 2) back when I was young and stupid. Now it's one of my favorite series.

Used to think Crash Bandicoot was better than Mario 64. Have I mentioned that I was stupid when I was young?

The same as Street Fighter II...and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

ActuaL feel the same way about Primal Rage and Mortal Kombat. I loved them as a kid, blood and dinosaurs could make most things better then.

Metroid is just one of those series I didn't play until I was older. Super Smash Bros was what got me interested in checking them out. And I don't think I did play them a year or two after Melee.

The Crash games are fun but I do like Super Mario 64 more, Warped is the only one that comes close.

Games from the PS1 era, just do not hold up for me. I used to love Twisted Metal, but I cannot even stand to look at it.... I can play games like Twisted Black just fine...

Let's see:

I don't like anything on the N64 anymore aside from the Zelda games and Super Smash. Out of all the systems I have, its library has aged the worst.

I hated KOTOR when I first played it, because I wasn't a fan of the turn based combat. I tried it on and off again a few years later, and after finally forcing myself to get off the first planet, the game became very fun to me.

When I first got Galactic Attack for the Saturn in '97, or whenever it was, I didn't like it at all because I simply didn't like shmups then. Today though, it's my favorite in the genre after MUSHA, lol.

I've had a very long love/hate relationship with Sonic Adventure. I liked it quite a lot when it was new, but I eventually ended up hating it as time went on. Last summer though, I played the 360 version of it, which has a much higher frame rate and zero input lag, unlike the Dreamcast game, and it made all the difference in the world. So right now, I really like it again.

Hm, the Castlevania games from back in the day never sat well with me, but recently I've revisited Bloodline on Genesis and it has piqued my interest. I think the controls on them never gelled with me and that made it difficult to enjoy, but now with a healthy mix of nostalgia and stubbornness Bloodlines at least is getting me hooked

Yeah 2D gaming is no issue, and that is one of my fav Castelvania games... I guess I should have clarified 3D gaming lol...

When I was a kid I hated Blast Corps. I got it mainly because it had Rare stamped on the box, and little me knew that all their games tended to be phenomenal, but I didn't really understand it. Playing it again in Rare Replay though gave me a completely new appreciation for how ridiculous it is.

Really depends on what PS1 games.

Crash has aged incredibly well. As did the final fantasies thanks to prerendered backgrounds. Actually a lot of great PS1 games aged well imo.

MGS aged good imo, just need to adjust to the controls after that it plays great imo.

Castlevania SOTN I didn't like the fact there was no whip it just was way too different from the Castlevania games I knew.

Resident Evil I hated the controls and pre rendered graphics. Remake on the Gamecube changed my opinion on the series.

Castlevania. Never disliked it. Played the NES ones, had the Tiger electronic hand held, played the snes one, but never thought the series was anything more than a decent game. Personally really dig Bloodlines one Genesis.

Originally, although I had played them loosely, I never liked Metroid. Then after playing Smash 64, and later Melee, I decided to give Metroid another shot. I being of the NES era, and my brother the N64 era, wanted me to buy Metroid Prime 2. I bought it for him as a gift, he liked it a bit.

I played through it and enjoyed it, albeit it took me awhile to get into that Metroid groove. Then I played Prime 1 (now understanding how Metroid games were played), and it blew my mind. Since then I've completed Prime 3, Metroid NES, Super Metroid, Other M, and I am currently playing through Fusion. I'm in love with the franchise.

I used to think Mario Kart 64 was amazing, it's just not as great as I remember; even with 4 players racing.

Crystalis on the NES for me...used to die ALL THE TIME when I was a kid and hated this game. Replayed it recently and it's actually pretty cool.

And yeah, most Castlevania games hold up pretty well (not the 64 ones tho lol)
