Just came from the console hospital, according to the Console Doctor, unless we find a hardware donor, my PS2 fat has seen it´s "last days" as a DVD reader; it needs a complete tray system because the one it´s got is toast so it´s barely able to move now and there are no parts available to fix it ( and who knows how much will that cost ). Of course I can still use it with the HDD but I´m thinking to trash it and get me another one in better shape, I saw one very good looking for 60 bones and the person gives me 2 original PS2 games ( RE4 and COD Big Red ), probably I should let go the emotional attachment and get me another one. I know, I have the new one I just purchased but it´s not HDD compatible.

At least it's not something older which would be harder to acquire. Those fat models were notorious for not lasting very long.

@raugutcon: Well shucks, by the title I was expecting a juicy "my collection was destroyed" story. Not that I'd wish that upon anyone. Thousands of dollars worth of my retro games were effectively destroyed in a flood about 10 years ago, that was a sad for my collection!

But I'm sorry to hear about your departed plus sized PS2. Mine's been going strong for 13 years, knock on wood. Silver lining is they're not prohibitively expensive to replace.

@thecouchpotater: exactly, 13 years is not too bad taking in consideration I really beat the living hell out of it, I wore out 3 controllers during that period of time, the one I found is really very nice, I saw it personally, it works properly and very clean so doing the math I´m getting it for like 35 dollars since the person gives me 2 games in very neat condition, I plan on selling COD 3 which I already have and keeping RE4.

Yeah I had an issue with my fat PS2... Same issue pretty much, it would not read those PS2 games that had the blue colored CD back.
