Poll Which was the best western "Puyo Puyo" game (Compile era)? (2 votes)

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Gear) 50%
Kirby's Avalanche (SNES) 50%

So, Puyo Puyo has one of the weirdest localization histories. Even SEGA first got the IP, only some countries got all versions of Puyo Pop Fever, while us North Americans got only the DS and GameCube versions for weird reasons.

But even well before that, when it was still owned by Compile, the majority of their games were left in Japan and only two had to be adapted as crossovers, respectively with the Sonic the Hedgehog series (mostly with the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog TV series) and Kirby.

Being Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

*Sonic himself would not appear in Puyo Puyo until Puyo Puyo Tetris 2.

And Kirby's Avalanche

Which was the better early western adaptation of Puyo Puyo pre-Sega?

Both are good but I have to go with Mean Bean Machine especially since it has seen more ports and been on portables

I also love the soundtrack

To be fair, licensing with SEGA doesn't help Kirby's case.
