well although thats not "all about needlemouse", i can work with it.
needlemouse is hopefully going to be aimed toward the old school fans who built the franchise. i realize it will be aimed toward a child audience, and it should be but things as childish as chip from sonic unleashed or cream or big could really drag a game down. as it staands right now needlemouse dosent have tthat problem.
See? That news allows me to come to one conclusion: The Sonic fanbase was torn apart with all the new things added to some games. Now Sega ended up wanting to make games that could TRY and give everyone a little bit of what they wanted. In the end they ended up with mediocre games that were straining to be great.
well im going to be honest all of the new things sega tried with the werehog, the sword and the riders games. I thought those games had potential they just werent executed right.
which is why im excited about needlemouse sega is going back to the basics with this one

maybe. but if those gimmicks were never tried there would not have been such failure. which is why needlemouse has such a good chance at greatness. no gimmicks (as far as we know)
Just because something is geared towards kids, that's not an excuse not to try to make something decent though. Nintendo makes games for kids but they still put effort into them. Same with Pixar, who makes "Family" movies but they're far from being shallow and full of fart jokes like most children's entertainment.
And that's just Sega's lame ass excuse for not putting effort into their games. I hate that sort of mindset that emerged ever since the PS1 ushered in the "mature" era of games. Back in the SNES and NES eras, games were made for everyone. Nowadays the industry sees us as "demographics" isntead of consumers.
No Sega, saying "we're making games for kids" is NEVER an excuse for poor quality.
I did a Blue Blur on this as well a while back.

What's ironic is once upon a time, Sonic was poised as the "mature" alternative to Mario which I find strange now that they're saying "well Sonic's for kids." No Sega's just saying that as an excuse for poor quality. And as of recently those kids aren't buying Sonic games. They're buying Mario games.
well even though needlemouse is aimed toward the old school fans hopefully it will satisfy ALL sonic fans
*RUNS IN*

Hm, it seems it did get taken down....
Anyway, here's the guist of what it was saying:
- Project Needlemouse would be considered Sonic 4 and would be the first of episodic games coming
- it will be available on Xbox and PS3
- they had names for the first and last level, but I forgot what they were called...
- going to be like the original 3 games and S&K
sonictrainer
hmm, i wonder why that articale was taken down? there are plenty of other artiales full of rumors like that one. what made this one so special?
Sega didn't want the info out yet. Same thing that happened when Unleashed was revealed.

i was thinkin the ssame thing, but lets not jump to conclusions just yet.

Sega is freaking stupid to NOT release it on the Wii. Did they not see NSMBWii sales? Do they not see how well Sonic sells on Nintendo platforms. They're going to lose a whole demographic of sales just for the sake of a shiny coat of HD. Once again Sega really is stupid in their marketing. It's not a big deal for me. I have a 360 to download it on, it's just Sega needs to get their heads out of their butts and realize there is a big market for this sort of game on the Wii. Then again a lot of game companies are like that. Pandering to a much smaller user base instead of the vast untapped expanded market.
Also it wouldn't surprise me if they try nickel and diming people for DLC hence another reason it wouldn't be on the Wii.

Then again, at this point does Sega's stupidity surprise anyone? Remember this is the same company that....
Honestly when I hear fans wishing for a new Jet Grind Radio or Shenmue and then I look at the lackluster updates of games like Samba' DAmgio, Nights and Goldenaxe and you have to ask yourself "Do you absolutely, positively want a new Shenmue or Jet Grind Radio game?"
Yeah Sega is definitnely stupid. Of course if Needlemouse only comes out for the 360 and PS3 and still doesn't sell massive numbers then Sega will complain "isn't this what you wanted?!" To which we'll say "yeah but you left about 50 million+ gamers out in the cold just so you could do this in HD."
However that link isn't valid anymore so maybe that means something has changed.
Well I think Sega's mindset is that the Wii audience is all kids, Nintendo fans and casuals. Kids like Sonic and their excuse for poor quality is "we make Sonic for kids!" Which is lame because just because something is made for kids is not an excuse not to put forth effort.
And in their mind the 360/PS3 owners are the "hardcore, old school gamers" who don't want to play "baby" games like Sonic now. Sonic Next Gen sold poorly, not because it was rushed out and badly made but because 360 and PS3 owners don't want to play "kiddie games" like that. They want blood and gore and guns!! Yeah!! But still this argument is weak because all you have to do is point to the sales of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. A 2D Sonic game on the Wii could be a massive hit. Of all the ideas Sonic ripped off of Mario over the years (party games, Kart racing, saving a princess) the one thing that would be ideal, Sega continues to ignore.
Also Sega still has the mindset that that industry holds onto that it's all about graphics. I mean look at how much they put into that "hedgehog engine" for Unleashed yet the versions that didn't have it sold better, why because more people own PS2s and Wiis. Sega still sees 2D games as "backwards" and something relegated to handhelds and download services. Rush did well because people wanted 2D Sonic goodness but Sega is still hung up on Sonic Adventure gameplay hence why Adventure elements were shoehorned into the second Rush game. The Average consumer didn't want to have to repeat stages over and over again to get supplies for Tails or waste time riding around on watercraft.
I like this article from Sean Malestrom where a Wii owner talks about how much he enjoyed NSMBWii and how he wishes Sega would make New Sonic the Hedgehog or something along those lines for the Wii. And Sean's response. (note: this was written around the time of the Needlemouse annoucement but I don't think either writer was aware of the Needlemouse annoucement)
http://seanmalstrom.wordpress.com/2010/01/12/email-nintendo-shows-sega-the-way/
just look at the sales of megaman 8. classic megaman on the wii sold great! so much that they are making a megaman 9 for download on the wii. it wouldnt suprise me if sega didnt put it on the wii but i will be so dissapointed even though i own a PS3.
Oh sweet! Another art challenge! :D

dnt 4get that they botched a port of the original sonic
100 pices of art should not be to hard to collect! cmon lets get some screens!sonichedgehog45
I'm sorry Sega is getting a little ridiculous on this. Make 100 pieces of art just to reveal the freakin name! WTF Sega either you're making an old school Sonic game or not. Their snarky attitude is making me dislike this game more every minute. Imagine if Nintendo had done that for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. "We'll show you the trailer but you have to buy another million copies of Super Mario Galaxy first."
You all can sit there like sheep and drool and give into their demands just to be disappointed later on (like when it isn't made for the Wii). Or like me, wait for actual gameplay footage.
How much you want to be they haven't even started making this game yet? They probably made that trailer before actually starting on the actual game.
Sega's next challenge: "We'll show you video of the first level but you all have to go and buy all those unsold copies of Sonic Next Gen."

I'm doing it cause I missed out on the last art contest. Plus, it's not hard to find 100 pieces of artwork on the internet. So many people posted yesterday on the blog that some posts didn't get processed and appeared later.
i dont see the point. the game has already been remade so many times. so just releasing sonic 1 in HD without any other titles would be a waste of time.sonichedgehog45
Really what would be the point now of just rehashing the original trilogy in HD? Is' already available on everything. People are tired of that. Just like when Nintendo kept releasing the Arcade Mario Bros. on every Super Mario Advance port that came out. Thank God NSMBWii didn't include another sewer battle mode.
But at this point Sega will shoot themselves in the foot by not releasing it on the Wii, where an old school 2D sidescrolling game would sell like crazy. Ahem New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold already outsold Galaxy now and is still going!! And Sega is going to ignore that gold mine for HD graphics. Stupid stupid stupid. Someone send a letter to Sega and tell them to relase it for the Wii.
today is groundhogs day or as sega is calling it "hedgehogs day" today they are supposed to reveal a bunch of stuff about needlemouse(:
oh and love the new sonicspot banner lol.
