While Sonic games have been up and down in the 3D realm, the final bosses, even if they weren't Eggman (and all but on in this poll were not), they were pretty awesome. After picking out which were probably the better ones (let's ignore the ones from games like Shadow, Next Gen, or the two storybook games xD), I figured we could have a discussion on best final bosses in general possibly, and obviously see what you all think is the best final boss.

What's your opinion?

I can't help here. I haven't played a 3D Sonic game, but I hope to get Colors because it's actually good. I've only played the 2D games and Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing. Sorry.

I've never really been big on sonic games in general, but I did play Sonic Adventure 2, and I enjoyed it. So had to chose Finalhazard. (never finished Unleashed...and I had it for the Wii, shows how much I cared for it :/)

I've unfortunately fought none of those, despite owning two of the games. :P

The final boss in Colors was a nice change to all the Super Sonic battles. It was like the past in Sonic 2 and Sonic 1 where you were normal Sonic.

Yeah same here. It was nice to finally fight Eggman as the final Sonic boss in a 3D game for a change.

This is a bit tough.

Perfect Chaos was very fun, and just blasting through the destroyed city and fighting a giant monster of water is insane and awesome.

Finalhazard was easier then Biolizard, and the controls were a bit odd.

Metal Overlord involved special stages to fight him, not just completing the stories, and the fight worked well.

Perfect Dark Gaia was very complete, with a fighting part, a part that involved running through the giant temple, and the final Super Sonic battle.

Nega-Wisp was too easy, but the theme was purely incredible.

My final vote would have to go to Dark Gaia, Perfect Chaos in second.

And that is why I didn't add it. xD Overall, I'll say Nega-Wisp Armor. The fact it takes place on a piece of the escalator thing was awesome. I just wish it used more of the Wisps somehow. Perfect Dark Gaia is 2nd for me, the same reasons zman said.

That's one thing I like about Wii games that only relegate shaking the Wii Remote to certain functions rather than EVERY DAMN THING IN THE GAME.

It's why I don't mind using the Wii Remote + Nunchuck in Colors: only thing I need to shake for was wisps, which were optional to begin with.

Which is why few people liked Black Knight.

Yeah I was fine with that control scheme in Colors because it didn't feel forced or uneeded and it was nice Sega's been giving players to the choice of which control scheme they want to use. Many fans will tell you that while they love NSMBWii and DKCR, they can't understand why neither game allows for cla$$ic controller options because many DKCR players will note an unfair death do to rolling when they meant to blow on a flower or smack the ground. More than likely Nintendo does this to avoid piracy but clearly Sega isn't worried about that.

It made no sense to me that A) Black Knight didn't have that option or B) Didn't wait for Wiimotion Plus. I mean if they were so hell bent on giving Sonic a sword, they could've taken the time to make it actually work right though the same could be said about Samba D'Amigo on the Wii as well. Seriously devs, Nintendo made that Wiimotion Plus because you all complained about not getting precise enough controls. Secret Rings could've also benefited for a traditional controller option but at least that was because it was an early generation Wii game where everyone was playing around with the controls to see what they could do.

I don't mind the controls in Colors or NSMBW. People just don't like standing up to play games. :P And apparently hackers found ways around motion controls, NSMBW was available illegally even before being available legally. :?:x

The problem with DKCR doing that was it had a couple different things set to shaking the remote one way: ground pound, blowing, and rolling. If you try that, they should at least have made it so you had to shake it a different way.

As for Black Knight, having another option would be nice, but at the same time, seem like something odd to do: a sword game for a motion-control console would make sense to use shaking to swing a sword, so the idea must've easily passed over their heads. As for the WiiMotion+, I could agree with what you said.

Definitely Nega-Wisp Armor. That is one of the only final bosses where 1.you're not Super Sonic and 2.you fight Robotnik/Eggman.

Perfect Dark Gaia. Awesome music, complete fight, mentions a RareWare game and a God of War character in name which is awesome, and is the coolest looking boss aswell.

Well at least we know he'll be in Sonic 4: Episode II but yeah, Metal Sonic for a long time was like the Koopalings in the Mario games, everyone liked him as a bad guy yet Sega liked to pretend he didn't exist. Of course some of this is to blame on Shadow showing up not only stealing Knuckles's job of Han Soloesque-anti hero but stealing Metal Sonic's role as evil twin. He's the illegal Mexican of Sonic characters. But at least Sega is decent enough to toss old Metalhead into some of the ensemble games now as a playable character but I know a lot of us want to actually fight him again.

Heck they could make him fight like a combination of Mecha Sonic (S3K) and Silver Sonic (S2).

And when you put it that way (the point about Shadow) I can't disagree, actually. He's taking everyone's jobs!

Well I always sort of saw the Silver Sonic robot at the end of Sonic 2 as the prototype of Metal Sonic. After Robotnick saw Sonic defeat the large metal reproduction of Sonic he realized he needed to make some tweaks, make it smaller, and faster and more nimble to keep up with Sonic.

That was sort of my idea too. :P I just wonder if we'll ever fight them again... I once thought up an idea for a Sonic game that took a Mega Man styled approach to level selection, you chose what zone out of eight to go to, played through a pair (Or trio) of acts, then fought a robot at the end. Not just Eggman (Who gets relegated to final boss duty instead), but an actual robot, like Mecha Sonic, Metal Sonic, Silver Sonic, Mecha Knuckles (Sonic R), Mecha Tails (Made up by me), Tails Doll (As an evil wizard type guy who fries you with lightning and laser eyes. :P), and a couple of others. After that you do a final evil factory type zone and take on Eggman. It'd be interesting for variety's sake, at least.

Well the fact they put the Sonic robots in a cameo in Sonic Adventure must mean they aren't entirely forgotten, and Metal Sonic's spearheading the plot of Heroes is more proof of that. So much like kbaily said, they're like the Koopalings. We love seeing them pop but they don't pop up quite enough.

This is a tough one. Perfect Chaos was really fun to kill, but was also really easy. The FinalHazard was amazing, despite it's control problems. Perfect Dark Gaia would have been better if it wasn't for the very loose controls. The Nega-Wisp Armor was totally epic, but was very hard compared to the other bosses in Colors.

Overall, I'd choose The FinalHazard, because it takes place around a giant spacecraft falling towards Earth. EPIC.

Nege-Wisp Armor in a close second.

I didn't mind the Secret Rings boss too much, for some reason. I should have hated it, but I was okay with it. The Black Knight final boss, less so. Again, not sure why, but it was probably the stupidly precise timing requirements on those waggles. :-/

I was working on some emblems in SA1 which I downloaded but some of the level A missions are tough. I have no idea how to get Sonic to clear Emerald coast in 2 min. I just barely got through Windy Valley in 3min. Though I did do a clean sweep with Tails but have yet to win a chao race and Knuckles "complete without using hints" is a pain because thanks to twitchy controls and camera you all too often accidentally hit one. Plus despite the DX version being the one you play on XBLA it makes you pay extra to unlock the DX content. Major ripoff Sega/Microsoft, I could've bought a used GC copy for the same price.

Still working on the red coins for Colors along with Mario's green stars and DK's puzzle pieces.

I was replaying Sonic Adventure DX and I have to say... it's not as good as I thought it was... and I didn't think it was very good to begin with. In short compared to even, say, Heroes, I wasn't having much fun with SADX.

They're not too hard, once you get the hang of it. Spindash abuse is very helpful, especially in Emerald Coast.

Spin dash + Jump = New Shortcuts. EX: Just after that triple loopy thing in part two (which you can jump through to save afew seconds) spin dash and jump over the water to the bach on the other side (landing you where the numbered jump panels are). Saves you the time of running up that ramp and all the way around.

If there's one thing I loved about Sonic Adventure, it's the Monkeyball like propensity for creative shortcuts. Anyone else skip half of twinkle park as Sonic by using those barrels at the beginning to hop the fence? (After the car thing, of course)

Sonic Adventure is a game that looked more interesting to me several ears ago then it does now, and even then (When all I read was the instruction manual, which for some reason was at our church with the Dreamcast game. :|) I thought the idea of fishing levels was lame. :P

If there's one thing I loved about Sonic Adventure, it's the Monkeyball like propensity for creative shortcuts. Anyone else skip half of twinkle park as Sonic by using those barrels at the beginning to hop the fence? (After the car thing, of course)

Sonic Adventure has so many shortcuts and glitches to abuse and finish levels extremely fast. I managed to complete Ice Cap in 0:16:20. I also have not tried that shortcut, I completed the stage by extreme spin dashing.

O_O What'd you do? Jump the ice at the bottom with the numbere'd jump panels? Is that even possible? (I assume the answer is yes. >_>)

Yes, I used the panels. Then in the second place, I jumped through the door. Then I glitched in the tunnel before the snowboarding. The time stops here, so since you never activated the avalanch, time remains frozen.

Ah, glitches... what broke Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 so far they were nearly or completely unplayable.
