That's the big problem in gaming. People want voice acting but only if it's good and more often than not, it's not that good. Especially when it comes to games made in Japan being translated into English, rather poorly. But really we don't need to hear Sonic and pals saying "yahoo" or "alright everytime they jump or whatever.kbailyYeah. That does get annoying. :x
It's a bit difficult to say Mario only says the odd line and Link doesn't speak at all. Samus will in Other M but for the Sonic series I hate it they sound horrible. It's much better with text.chocolate1325
Link just makes those weird variations of "ha."

That's how a warrior fights. :) Yelling actually gives you more power. Confront your enemy and show 'em. :DBut, you don't really have to. I do if I'm angry. :P
[QUOTE="white_kunoichi"]No voices in 2D and LESS voices in 3D. sonicphcI SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE. (And lolled)Yes, you did.
I think voice acting isn't really that neccesary.
VA in Sonic Adventure: dreadful, and by far, the worst of any Sonic game
VA in Sonic Adventure 2: it is still a bit cheesy, but the well written dialogues compensates its problems
VA in Sonic Heroes: actually quite good, but bad lines brings it down
VA in Shadow the Hedgehog: bad
VA in Sonic Next Gen: terrible
VA in Sonic & the Secret Rings: meh
VA in Sonic Unleashed: pretty good. especially considering it is done by 4kids
VA in Sonic & the Black Knight: fair
What always got me was the crusader-like fevor of the Drummond vs. Griffith camps. There was literally a group of insane fans convinced that the single thing that ruined the Sonic series was the switch to the 4Kids voice actors. Not bad controls or bad game concepts or terrible stories but it was all Jason Griffith's fault. It went so far as that those fans petioned to get Ryan Drummond to voice Sonic for Smash Bros. Bear in mind there's little to no voice work in SSBB but supposedly Nintendo did try to get Drummond for the voice but Sega wouldn't allow it but now most fans have just accepted that Griffith is here and he's not going away no matter how much hate mail fans send him..
I agree with nunchuck that Unleashed and Black Knight both improved in the VO section. Tails in Unleashed wasn't overdoing it like he did in Next Gen. He sounded more toned down and it also helped that both those games signaled the change in the series to a more light hearted feel in the stories which also helps. Probably what surprised me the most was Chip in Unleashed. When I first saw him I feared he would sound like Charmy or Bokun meaning making my ears bleed. But thankfully he ended up being way more tolerable
