Brawl Opening Movie: Sonic's stage revealed...

Warning Spoilers Ahead:

This is the opening trailer for SSBB now on the verge of being released in Japan.

A few things I've noticed:

Sonic's stage is as we expected, Green Hills.

Sonic doesn't appear to be part of the Subspace Emissiary story but I could be wrong.

All the characters that are revealed at the site are the ones playable from the get-go so Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, Mewtwo etc. must have to be unlocked.

Watch at 2:00, another veteran, Marth is revealed.

Oh. My. God.

This just made my hour, day, week, month and year.

....that would be Marth.

More characters have bee revealed such as Wind Waker Link and Game and Watch and Ganondorf.

Also Sonic and Snake are not playable from the start, they have to be unlocked.

Captain Falcon MIA?

No Ridely or Bowser Jr. or Krystal or Wolf and there is NO other third party character like previously thought. No Megaman, no Geno, no Leon, no Sonic pals.

The clones are gone: Pichu, Falco, Dr. Mario, young Link and Roy.

Now why would Nintendo leave the Captain out of the fun? F-Zero is one of my favorite Big N franchises. I'd hate to see its icon ignored.

No worries Captain Falcon has not been forgotten and will be in the SSBB.

So will Falco. Young Link is replaced by Cel-Shaded Link. Ness is back, Ridley is a Subspace boss, Master Hand is back, Luigi returns (of course), Jigglypuff is said to be back, and some guy name Robot (supposedly has something to do with the NES) arrives.demoman_chaos

ROB the robot is unknown to the younger crowd and is a reminder as to how old I am. This is the real ROB.

What is ROB do you ask? ROB the robot is an often forgotten peripheral that came with the first NES systems back in 1985. When the NES launched in the US, they were on the heels of the Atari fallout. American crowds had grown tired of their Atari 2600s after years of terrible games with no quality control and the gaming industry in the US had crashed. Enter a little known Japanese company who had a hit with their Famicom system and wanted to sell it in the states but fears of it bombing lead the PR department to find things to help get people's attention and not think this was another Atari. The first NES's were released in America and actually didn't come with Mario rather you got the system with a d-pad controller, a zapper gun, Duck Hunt and a game called "Gyromite" that incorporated this little robot called R.O.B. (I don't remember what it stood for.) No one knows what ROB was supposed to do and he only worked with two games. He was also a pain to put together. The NES was a hit, but ROB wasn't as popular so to make the system cheaper, ROB was removed and we got the more standard NES package that came with two controllers, a Zapper and the Mario/Duck Hunt combo game and of course if you spent a little more you got all that and the foot pad and the track and field game.

ROB had a short life and was mostly forgotten though he did become a collector's item among avid gamers. I even joke that the robot that debuted in Starfox 64 was named after ROB.

Brawl isn't ROB's first playable appearance. If you played Mario Kart DS and beat every race, ROB was a hidden unlockable racer there as well. I think you had to beat All Retro Cup races on Mirror Mode.

Now I feel old.

Sakura said 2-3 third party characters so we will probably only see Sonic and Snake. You never know, they might have tried to get Megaman or someone else but maybe there were legal issues. So no other third party characters. Really, if another 3rd party character was in Brawl, we would've known by now. No Megaman. No Leon Kennedy. No Geno. No Sonic pals (though I saw a Charmy sticker in today's Dojo movie).

Yep, I saw a vid yesterday with him in it. *leaps in the air* Actually, his appearance didn't excite me much at first. However, once I saw his Final Smash... Oh, yeah. He's back.
